Lewis Warrington signs 2-year deal
Highly-rated Everton academy product Lewis Warrington has signed a new 2-year contract with the club that runs until the end of June 2024.
The 19-year-old had established himself as a regular for the Under-23s last season before joining League Two Tranmere Rovers on loan in January where he received rave reviews for his early performances.
“It feels brilliant to extend my time here,” Warrington told evertontv. “I've supported Everton all my life and playing for my boyhood club is what I've dreamt of.
“To sign another deal, it's massive for me, my family and my friends. They're all made up for me.

“It's been a good season for me personally. To go on loan and get that experience so early was good.
“I feel I've developed my game. I went to Tranmere as a sitting midfielder but the loan has transformed me into an all-round centre midfielder.”
Warrington is expected to be farmed out on another loan next season, but this time to a club further up the football pyramid to further his development.
Meanwhile, there are suggestions that Everton could establish a stronger relationship with Tranmere, perhaps a more formal one, that would see Blues youngsters being loaned out to the Birkenhead club on a consistent basis.

I think he's being harsh on himself. I've seen an all round midfielder in him from the few games I've watched, especialy his range of passsing. But I'd have to leave a more informed opinion to the likes of Brent.
If that Tranmere story has substance, a pseudo satellite club approach in all but name?
Now get him closer to the first team. This boy has potential.

Mount, Gallagher, Garner etc have all developed this way. It is crucial that he goes somewhere he is going to get the all-important game time.

I would like to see Lampard arrange some youth team games and watch the players in order to give our good young players a chance of being in the first team squad.

Even when he did eventually get fit, did Salomon really offer any more than what the 'kids' would have done? The same argument could easily be applied to this lad over some of our midfielders.
Hopefully in the future we'll see more youth players given a fair crack, like Gordon. Granted, I know this was the worst possible season to take risks with youth given the distinct possibility of relegation.

Younger players will have had two thing these two don't have and that's pace and determination!
Keane, is really terrible too. I never want to see a spine of a team of Keane, Gomes and Rondon ever again! No wonder we were nearly relegated!
I'd prefer to see youngsters on low (comparative) wages making mistakes, than ‘experienced' idiots on a £100k a week making the same mistakes!
We must have some young midfielders that can put more than one pass together, because seriously, the first team have actually struggled to put simple passes together all season! They should be ashamed!

Warrington, Price, Onyango, Broadhead, Dobbin should be loaned out this season to good Scottish or Championship clubs and hopefully they progress well to be in contention for next season (23-24).
Simms should be given playing time this season alongside Calvert-Lewin or Richarlison, assuming one or both of them stay.

I think Everton developing a relationship with Tranmere is a fantastic idea. It will help our younger players develop, in a meaningful league, close to home and club making it much easier with a manageable transition.
It'll help Tranmere obtain quality young players that hopefully see them succeed.
Win-win, love this idea, actually somewhere in the annals like 10 years ago a naive Yank asked aloud why this wasn't "a thing" as it seemed to make so much sense to me.

Hopefully next season will be different and he can do with some of our players what he did with Mason Mount.
12 Posted 26/05/2022 at 11:56:09
Last season at Tranmere will have done him no harm at all in terms of learning what the game is really all about.
A loan move to a Championship club is a sensible shout but, if he looks good enough for our first team now, why not be bold and give him a go? As others have said, pace, desire and being able to pass/control a ball already puts him ahead of most of our current first-team midfielders!

Put our opening goal in the glorious comeback
against Palace on continuous loop and marvel at what a "really terrible" player can produce in the club's desperate hour of need. An absolutely superbly taken goal, and as Frank said, the key that opened the door to our survival act, and had us all dancing in the aisles.
Some of us still are.

Its a pity Tranmere missed out on promotion but the championship will be a good destination for Lewis.
I can see Nathan Broadhead being transferred to Sunderland to generate some funds which is a pity because like Simms the lad has a goalscorers instinct.
Lewis Dobbin is another I'm not sure about. He looks like a poor version of Almiron to me. Lot of pace but no end product.

Great finish.
Keane's not world class. But he's not shit either. I don't see the gain in throwing shit at a player who's not even the topic of discussion.
17 Posted 27/05/2022 at 08:12:39
Does that make up for the terribly poor defending and consistent mistakes all season, which put us in a position whereby we needed to beat Palace in such dramatic fashion?
As exciting as the comeback was, and as much as I'm relieved to not be relegated, I'm not prepared to go on celebrating survival like a cup win. Keane was a major contributor to us being in this position.
Different views. I respect that. My view is he's shit. Your view is he isn't. Fair enough.

Slightly off post subject matter, but relevant to progress IMO.
What are the chances of Mykolenko persuading Zinchenko to join us from Man City and team up with his fellow countryman?
Man City paid £1.8 m for him in 2016. He can play in defence and (more imortantly) centre midfield.
Maybe City would let him go for a reasonable fee!
Then again Im probably dreaming 😂😂😂

On a similar line, the Kiev player Tsyangkov may be available due to ongoing war. He's a high-quality left-footed right-winger who scores a lot of goals.
20 Posted 27/05/2022 at 11:48:51
That's some dream, mate. I can hear Zinchenko laughing at Mykolenko asking that from here.
I doubt a Man City ball boy would consider that switch.

The idea of a regular relationship with Tranmere makes sense. Young players going there on loan means they don't have the upheaval of finding a new home as well as new team mates.
It will make it easier for them to settle into their football and be easier for our coaches to keep an eye no them.
