Richarlison thanks Blues for ’unconditional’ support

Richarlison has expressed his heartfelt thanks to Everton's fans for their unwavering support during what was a challenging season.
The Brazilian emerged as a Talisman for the Blues under Frank Lampard, scoring some vital goals down the home stretch of the campaign, including the equaliser in last Thursday's decisive win over Crystal Palace and his passion has resonated strongly with supporters.
Richarlison recognised that love with a post to Twitter last night where he acknowledged how poor the season had been for a club of Everton's size and history:
It was an unusual year, very difficult. Although we know we have escaped an even worse scenario, there are several lessons for the future.

Everton is a giant club and deserves to fight at the top of the table, for places in continental competitions and for titles not just for staying in the Premier League.
With all these difficulties, one thing no one can deny is that the Evertonians were our player of the season. You didn't let our team give up, even in the most difficult times, and you were with us until the last whistle.
Thank you for all the suport, unconditional faith and affection! Love you 💙

Miserable little git could smile a bit more though. I wish him all the best if he decides to move on.

I don't know if this is a goodbye given we are already seeing the announcemt of signings by other clubs. Or he's staying to get us into Europe.
I'm old enough now to know it could be out of his hands, no matter what he feels about Everton. We often forget they are increasingly treated as a commodity and asset by clubs and agents. Notwithstanding his personal career ambitions.
A slightly older generation would cite Alan Ball's departure. A younger one will reflect on the sale of Duncan Ferguson.
We target the players while the fat cats count the beans behind their protective screens letting the individual be seen as the pantomime villan.
That said, I won't contradict myself. We shouldn't be afraid of selling as long as we reinvest wisely.
Either way, beautiful words from Richie. He's an Evertonian for life now.

On point, not an obvious thank you and farewell from Richie, but I suspect in his own classy way, that is what he may be inferring.
7 Posted 23/05/2022 at 10:50:48
Of all the overpaid dross which has arrived under the Moshiri regime, we do have to credit Marco Silva for Richie arriving. Some signings are shrewd, Roberto with Barry & Lukaku.

I have an impending feeling of doom when it comes to Kenwright and Moshiri talking about football. I hope to god they are positive talks or we may see another shitshow developing.
10 Posted 23/05/2022 at 11:06:42
I fear that this is his goodbye. Who can blame him?
I wonder if Gueye might come our way if Richie goes to PSG?
11 Posted 23/05/2022 at 11:08:19
There is a very good article on him on the BBC website, I would link it if I knew how to, which deals with his battle to make it from a very poor background. A one way long distance bus ticket with borrowed boots at a young age! He has a great family to support him and he is clearly a very determined and level-headed character.
12 Posted 23/05/2022 at 11:08:59
I would love him to stay, but if he does go, lets hope its abroad. I would hate to see him score against us.
13 Posted 23/05/2022 at 11:09:30
My only regret is that Richarlison wasnt a cog in a strong, organised Everton team, allowing him to express himself more and focus on developing his offensive game.
14 Posted 23/05/2022 at 11:10:13
Never forget the way he joined in the celebration after Iwobi scored the winner against the skunks, running all the way from the dug out to behind the park end stand to join in the melee. Will be sorely missed............... if he goes, as nothing is definite yet. 🙏🙏🙏🙏

All we can ask is that the board do reinvest a good portion of what comes in to replace them.
18 Posted 23/05/2022 at 11:21:24
Vai com Deus Richy. or as we say here - Tarra Lad and all the best to you.
Also thanks to Marco Silva for insisting we buy him.
With regards to Mosh and BK meeting up with Frank. If he gets one whiff of negativity from that odd couple, towards a rebuild of the squad he'll be off. So back him properly and not like the couple of morons you've been impersonating for the past 5 / 6 seasons. No more daft decisions like RB being made manager. Anyway Moshiri should be giving BK his P45. I certainly hope so. Here's to the club finally getting its duck in a row and going in the same direction.

What a pity the current nondescript boardroom has long since abandoned such ideas 25 years ago and instead we have in place the 'good times of the late two and a half decades. As a follow on from that, and the appointment in autumn of last year, has anyone else witnesses the 'vast experience of all things Everton and great football knowledge' or words to that effect that accompanied Graeme Sharp gaining boardroom status - I may have missed it but I don't appear to have sight of such behaviours being apparent as yet.
23 Posted 23/05/2022 at 12:07:24
If anything its a, we must work harder and its a one off season. We all want Richarlison to stay, I think he loves it here. Hes got his house right on the beach at Formby, he wont find a better training facility than finch farm, the new stadium is coming along nicely, however much like ourselves hes probably sick of the poor appointments in managers, backroom staff and poor players. Surly Frank sits him down and says all of this to him and says honestly mate youre worth 75/85million and thats what the club value you at and if an offer of this sort doesnt come then we cant let you go. But also, equally saying to him we want you to stay and heres the players we are looking at. Give the guy some hope that things are looking upwards not downwards for a change.

25 Posted 23/05/2022 at 12:11:47
Do you honestly believe, even in the remotest corner of your body that BK wanted RB here as manager???
Who wanted Koeman and his 2 x #10s (I'll give you BK wanted WR)? Who wanted Marco Silva?
When it comes to decisions about football, if only one gets told to sit in the corner and keep quiet, then it needs to be FM.
Many want BK out of the club, but we have only gone backwards since FM arrived.
26 Posted 23/05/2022 at 12:14:44
He is frustrating at times, inconsistent, selfish and probably not as good as he thinks he is but he's prepared to take responsibility for his actions.
More importantly he works hard for the team and is always disappointed when subbed. Perhaps if he conserved some energy (in a better team) he would be more consistent but his work rate is so important to us.
Thanks Ric, I feel you may no longer be an Everton player next season, but either way, enjoy a long overdue rest and good luck.
27 Posted 23/05/2022 at 12:17:55
It looked like a farewell parade with his baby to me also. Frustrating at times, but a skilful player who genuinely wears his heart on his sleeve.
Unfortunately in our situation we cannot afford to let sentiment interfere with the rebuilding of the squad. Realistically the only big offers will come for Richarlison, DCL and Pickford. Sadly we must accept them. It would be folly not to.
I've rankled 'Red' friends today by quoting Shankly's famous 'First is first, second is nothing' quote. The great man (which he was) also notably said that you build a successful team with the spine of the side. In other words, Goal Keeper, Centre Half, Central Midfield and Centre forward. I agree entirely. With money generated from the sale of our biggest assets, plus funds from deadwood we might offload (choose any of them!) we could afford to buy experienced players to provide that spine from which to build a successful team.
A. C. Milan have just won Italian Serie A with two Centre forwards whose combined age is 75. Which goes to show that youth isn't everything! Remember the quality and stability that aging Richard Gough or Paul Power brought to our defence. Financially their next to nothing signings were masterstrokes.
Having proven experience in the team enables the manager to blood any young talent at his disposal. Whereas playing a youngster in the current haphazard shambles masquerading as a team, is like throwing him into the lions den.

he deserves to be at a club challenging for something other than relegation or mid table mediocrity
f he does leave, given his age and ability I'd hope we get at least £70m.
31 Posted 23/05/2022 at 14:01:00
Best of luck to him, always works his socks off.
32 Posted 23/05/2022 at 14:04:08
If we lose him no problem but not to a PL team,.He needs a Europe tournaments to really display talent.
I wish him well, but the question is, IS IT POSSIBLE TO AVOID LOOSING OUR STAR PLAYERS EVERY SEASON without making attracting better players.?
I believe if we have hard tackling and fearful players in our defenc and midfield we will always do better.

34 Posted 23/05/2022 at 15:39:41
Personally I don't think his departure is a foregone conclusion. We may not see the big offers from big clubs that some here have predicted. And he may not want to move to a big club and risk his guaranteed starting position just six months before the World Cup. At PSG Mbappe plays his position. At ManUtd it's Cristiano. At Bayern it's Sane. Will he take that chance and risk winding up on the bench right before Qatar?
Dave #9, I would ignore any rumor that doesn't include the name Thelwell. Our new DOF will be the key figure in any such conversation.

Sadly the attitude from many is we were doing wonderful until Kenwright arrived. Sadly that is so far from the truth it hurts.
https://www.benlcollins.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/team17_everton.jpg
He joined in 1989 on the back of the breakup of the Kendall/Harvey team and chairmanship of Michael Marsh - followed by the Peter Johnson takeover in 1994 and only became chairman in the wake of the Ferguson sale in 1998 (again in the wake of another brush with relegation.
Kewright's "failure" as such is that after a decade of finishing between 13 and 17th - except for the Joe Royle 6th after the cup win - he did not take us to 1st and 2nd but only 5th to 8th.
Tell you something else - yes I want cup wins and titles and European football but if I can't, I would rather have mediocrity rather than brushes with relegation which has been Moshiri's stock in trade and taking us back to the 90s. Both Koeman and Marco Silva (Moshiri choices) had us in the relegation zone when they were sacked and Beneathus was his choice as well.
Check out the graph on the link - it is scary
43 Posted 23/05/2022 at 17:20:42
250/1 to win the league.
25/1 for top 4.
9/2 for the r word (though there are five teams with shorter odds).
After the last couple of weeks, the end of the season is very welcome.
The Brentford game was a low point in a season of lows.
How grim did that feel? Horrible.
Even worse than getting stuffed by the bottom 3.
Thursdays high was fantastic.
Yesterday was a bit of a cherry on top - though with 20 mins to go, I feared the worst. Mind you, Thursday was more than an antidote to even a last day City implosion had it occurred.
I hardly ever put the boot into our players but there has to be a clear-out. Gomes is at the front of the queue I am afraid. We cant afford passengers, particularly expensive ones. There are a few here.
I always suspected there was more to come from Iwobi as he has a bit of potency about him when deployed in the right way.
Hopefully Branthwaite and a few of our youngsters (Dobbin et al) will seize the day, given the fans have shown them how immense this club is if they didnt know already.
We have survived one of the worst and most shambolic seasons in our history. Total and utter mismanagement across the board. So, a reprieve. But it is only a temporary one unless big lessons are learned. 9/2 odds tells a tale.
Onwards and upwards.
Enjoy the summer.
(Come on, Carlo!!!)
44 Posted 23/05/2022 at 17:38:43
best period on the graph - Moyes era.
Looking across the full graph (and extrapolating to '22), a very slow, gradual but eventual upward trend, with a turn for the worse starting shortly after Moyes... and beginning to look like it might consolidate since the arrival of Moshiri and the money.
If we lose the better players, we will essentially be back where we were, but with potentially dire financial troubles. Where the stadium fits into this, I don't know...

I am old enough now to know it could be out of his hands no matter what he feels about Everton.
Another name I was surprised at leaving was Gary Linaker at the end of the 1985/86 season after scoring 40 goals in all competitions.I think he wanted to leave though and we won the league the following season without him.
Their is no way doubting the commitment from Richarlison that has been ingrained in him from the struggles he has had from a young age that has taught him, nothing comes easy, you have to work as hard as you can to achieve it. I believe he is really happy at Everton but like any good player he would like to see some titles or trophies for his play.
There are a number of players at Everton who we can get a decent fee for them and it would be interesting to see who will put in a request for a transfer, that has to be done if they want to leave as they are under contract.
The problem with selling players like Richarlison is,you have to have a decent young player in mind who you believe can become as good or even better and fits into your team.
Next season is going to make or break the manager and director of football, that because of previous mistakes from top to bottom that hopefully can be resolved at the top.
Thank you Richarlison for getting me on my feet sometimes to shout at some of your antics, but mostly to get exited when you are rushing to the goal with the ball at your feet, and you are not bad with your head either.

This is a man through his shambolic stewardship took over a top 7 club and took it to near disastrous relegation all within 6 years. He inflicted on us 2 of the worse managers that I have ever witnessed and heaven knows if the fans hadn't protested over the possibility of him appointing Pereira who was his choice, where we might have finished this season. Yes I know him and his boss have pumped in £500 million, which makes our position even more unpalatable. Does anybody really believe he wont want to carry on listening to agents and making more awful decisions, I don't.
I think it would be best all round if he actively started looking for a new owner then he could carry on doing what he does best, looking after Usmanovs billions and leave running Everton football club to someone who cares and understands what running a Premier league club is all about. Not someone who thought owning our great club would only take 5% of his time.

55 Posted 23/05/2022 at 19:55:48
As it is, he's been really good but not quite top class. I think in many ways he's sacrificed personal achievements helping out a crap team defensively.
I hope he goes abroad so I can admire him from afar - because it will be difficult to see him play for another Prem club.
Make no mistake though for all his imperfections he's dug us out of a hole this season through sheer strength of character.
56 Posted 23/05/2022 at 20:05:59
Im just hoping hes selling up, because he hasnt really been that interested in Everton imo, otherwise we wouldnt be facing FFP issues, considering hes a top accountant, and I doubt any new owners would be wanting to keep Bill Kenwright at the club, either?
Its time for a lot of changes, especially after the way the crowd has United lately, otherwise, what is the actual point?
57 Posted 23/05/2022 at 20:09:32
Spot on mate. Absolutely correct
Ritchie has stood up to be counted. Hell flourish elsewhere
He gave us some star dust, fight, passion & belief. Scored against the shite & saved us from relegation
A true blue hero

That pic of him running with that royal blue flare is now iconic.
60 Posted 23/05/2022 at 21:06:13
Like Robert, I'd hope he goes abroad as it would be painful to see him line up against us. Real Madrid could be a good fit though I'd be worried about him starting there.
Not sure how many other clubs could afford him. Barca? Juve? Bayern? United? Arsenal? Him, Nunez, Osimhen, Antony, Dybala and maybe Mane are likely to be the high profile forwards available this summer.
He does seem to really love this club. Maybe it'll be Calvert-Lewin who goes and Richarlison will continue the love affair…
61 Posted 23/05/2022 at 21:10:14
We have to keep our best players at all costs and stop putting players' futures before that of the club, no wonder we struggle.
63 Posted 23/05/2022 at 22:05:32

Unfortunately Agents get involved and have the players' interests at heart. Oh, a Pig has just flown over my neighbour's roof ! We are a secondary consideration most of the time, but I understand too, that young players want success and to win Cups and Medals. Hope he gives us one more year at least and we do win something after Kenwright is buried in a concrete (quick setting) overcoat !
66 Posted 23/05/2022 at 23:16:30
I dont know how it affects our FFP position but selling DCL for a fee similar to what Richie would bring would return a far bigger profit on the books surely as we paid a lot less for him.
Tony @ 56 - About Moshiri - someone posted in the last couple of days that his net worth had dropped by 1 Billion in the past year. If that is true I dont think I would want to be sitting in the directors box watching what has no doubt been a big contributor to that loss. I am pretty sure however that he has slept easier since Thursday night.
Back to Richie - he is a blue diamond.
67 Posted 23/05/2022 at 23:34:15
68 Posted 23/05/2022 at 23:41:20
When Moshiri took over Colin Glassar pointed out he was “barely a billionaire” i.e. his net worth was one billion. So if hes lost his billion is it time for a whip around? Was it Terry Curran?
69 Posted 23/05/2022 at 23:51:08
70 Posted 24/05/2022 at 00:14:59
The only really personal communication with the fan base that I can recall was the January open letter about buying more shares after he sacked Benitez. Except for that and a brief TV clip when he hired Frank, it's been just press statements from his London PR firm the past couple of years.
He's not gonna talk to us. And if he's contemplating selling, which I doubt, he won't tell us until it's happening.
71 Posted 24/05/2022 at 01:13:19
In the post I referred to he was worth 2.7 billion but he is still worth 1.7 billion 🤔 and miles in front of nearly everyone else on the planet so no wip round required😉.
Regardless of his ongoing wealth I bet you he had his head in his hands while he watched it falling.
I count my blessings being one of the 10% who has food, clothing, and shelter every day. The obscene thing about the world as it currently stands is that there are 90% who havent.
72 Posted 24/05/2022 at 01:19:44
He'd have to stay here at least two more years to play any European football for the club, and that's taking a wildly optimistic view of how things might go next season.
73 Posted 24/05/2022 at 01:48:28
Forbes shows Moshiri's net worth dropped from £2.2 billion to £2 billion in the past year. Down only 10%.
74 Posted 24/05/2022 at 04:36:11
Those figures are based on the fact Moshiri said hed cover my bar tab watching Everton this season.
75 Posted 24/05/2022 at 04:42:23
Totally agree mate. You see a country like Lukakus ancestral home DRC — one paper one of the richest in the world based on resources and people paid Pennies to mine gold for European and American countries that immediately sell it for obscene amounts. If I had a billion I wouldnt know what to do with it. Then again I guess we are complicit as we encourage our billionaire owner to spend his wealth on footballers versus more pressing matters.
76 Posted 24/05/2022 at 06:49:14
orry, but I couldn't resist it! I'm a mere baby at 61, and boy do I get stick from my family who mock my typing consistently. I can't see and my fingertips are too big for the kSeypad (phone).
77 Posted 24/05/2022 at 06:55:17
Anybody who could afford your bar tab is either being sanctioned by every Western government or is currently engaged in buying Newcastle.
78 Posted 24/05/2022 at 08:03:15
Im certain that Usmanov and Moshiri, will have been ahead of the game, but Im also certain that these sanctions will be doing them no good whatsoever? So Id have a little bet that he sells, because its not as if he seems to care about Everton that much anyway, considering the mess his club have made of financial fair play, and the absolute fortune we have wasted on some very poor signings, getting very extortionate long contracts. Definitely not the work of a good accountant.
79 Posted 24/05/2022 at 09:06:02
80 Posted 30/05/2022 at 16:07:57
Richarlison told Globo Esporte [via SportWitness]: “Ive already made it clear to the board, Ive already talked to Lampard too, with my agents and they know what I want. Lets wait for June. "Now I cant talk, because when we talk about leaving a club Im kind of like this, because of the history I have at Everton, the affection that the fans have for me, when we talk about leaving Im a little speechless." Richarlison has made 152 appearances for the Blues since his move from Watford in 2018, scoring 53 goals and claiming 14 assists in that period. His most recent strike was a crucial second goal as Everton secured a 3-2 comeback against Crystal Palace at Goodison Park to dramatically secure their survival.
Unsure whether this is Richarlison wanting to stay, perhaps with a pay-rise or Richarlison wanting to move on, or the club feel it is the right time to cash in on a saleable asset?
81 Posted 30/05/2022 at 16:31:06
82 Posted 30/05/2022 at 16:42:56
He obviously wants something but it's whether the club is willing or able to provide it? Or is he just saying he's told them the kind of move he is looking for?
Perhaps Jerome can tell us which one it is.
