Sterling talking himself out of City potentially, which his interview yesterday? Who wouldn't take the 33 year old Lewandowski?
Calvert-Lewin to become Arsenal's main target??
And Klopp out with an early, albeit tame snipe at the Newcastle deal.
Right let's watch Watford.

A first for everything I suppose.
4 Posted 16/10/2021 at 13:14:40
It took 40 minutes, but the pre-prepared "it was a year ago tomorrow that Saint Virgil sustained a knee injury" got rolled out. Okay, he didn't use Saint, but that was otherwise verbatim.
Inevitable (eye roll, sigh).
I admit to not paying too much attention to them other than banter with family, but is it me or, despite their very strong first 14, is Liverpool's squad a light touch too???

Also the rumours about Aberdeen right-back, Calvin Ramsey, keep resurfacing. It seems we've sent scouts up there and we're taking this possibility seriously. He's only 18, it would be interesting to hear opinion whether him or Patterson look the best prospect.

My blood is currently boiling. If his young kid wasn't with him, a London red who strangely apparently has a Warford season ticket is bragging out loud about selling his ticket for this to someone for £1k in the pub I'm watching this in.
Thank goodness for the ToffeeWeb community. True blues who help fans out at face value. I'm fuming and I'm usually a calm person.
Got to listen to this idiot for the next 40 minutes or so.

Chopping and changing managers is why we are in a financial mess and Rafa cant spend…
10 Posted 16/10/2021 at 14:11:48
But do it or don't do it. None of this "on the bus / off the bus" approach. Its just caused confusion and complexity as to who is responsible for what.

Delighted for Beni that things are going well for him at Hearts. He comes across as a very mature, well-balanced young man.
I might just tune in and watch the Rangers v Hearts game rather than a Premier League alternative today.
14 Posted 16/10/2021 at 14:24:39
Moyes and his teary sidekick upstairs brainwashed a generation of Blues into thinking we should be grateful to even be on the top table. As for Silva, the job was way too big for him. Koeman didn't care and is / was average at best. Big Sam ditto. So the chopping and changing is not really the problem in my opinion.
Let's hope this fella carries on the good work. Even with almost 10 men tomorrow because Rondon is next to useless so far.

I think, as Brent suggests, that Beni has always been easy to like, his quiet nature possibly holding him back in his football career, maybe he has found that toughness, on the pitch, that he always needed.
Ive watched since he first started in the youth team, he had a nice style and always played for the team, never for himself, lost his way a bit the last few years but looks like he has found himself at Hearts, I sincerely hope he continues to shine up in Scotland and has a good career in football.

I can only find radio commentary on the Rangers v Hearts game, or this YouTube link which is showing the game live...BUT!!!
The screen is showing the game at a 45 degrees angle. Weird.
Could get a stiff neck watching this!

Tuned in to watch Beni, not aware another Everton old boy now plays for Rangers.
Beni has barely featured with Rangers dominant, but John Lundstrom has shone. Seriously, possibly the standout player in the first half.
Won't be able to watch the 2nd half. Summonsed by she who must be obeyed to go on a shopping trip. Sob!
29 Posted 16/10/2021 at 15:46:28
Always liked Lundstram... too bad with that manager though.

60 Posted 16/10/2021 at 17:34:55
I cheer for the Bees to support a close Irish mate who suffered through four decades of Brentford futility. We went through the same medical shit at the same time, and I promised him if we both made it, I'd go with him back to London to watch the Bees. We did both make it, but sadly his fight took too much out of him to allow him to travel again, so I can't keep my promise. The least I can do is to share his joy at watching his lads in the Premier League.
That far outweighs any considerations about the RS. I'll leave that to you.

"During the 1970s, there was a group of us who would socialise and go to home and away games. One of them was a girl called Judy Kaufman. Judy was known as Jude and therefore I used to play the song for her. It's just been adopted by Brentford fans listening to it and it evolved pretty quickly."
64 Posted 16/10/2021 at 17:43:19

I'll make it even more simple for you. I and a few others love Everton, and want us to win every single game, be it Under-18s, Under-23s, women's team etc,
But I also love the game of football, especially when an underdog is beating the so-called top clubs. So yes, I enjoyed Leicester City beating Man Utd.
I also love a comeback, like Wolves today at Villa. Great games, entertaining, enjoyable.
I also want Brentford to beat Chelsea tonight, just like I enjoyed them beating Arsenal, and getting a 3-3 against your favourites for everything.
69 Posted 16/10/2021 at 18:05:19
Unpalatable as it may be to some, especially the 'out of town' crew, until we start to challenge and win stuff, the schadenfreude of the rs NOT dancing in the streets is all we have.
Only the Mancs and Chelsea have the tools – hence we need them to get on a run.

He has proven himself to be shite at a lower club with little money, and now shite at a big club with loads of money. He is about as employable as David O'Leary. He looks like a man who can't quite believe he is doing the job he is doing.
I suspect he will soon be relieved of any such concerns.

74 Posted 16/10/2021 at 18:25:09
That is a really interesting post and, as one of the "out of town" crew, I actually get what you mean. Hope our days of vicarious pleasure will end soon. Maybe, when every club is super rich, we will arrive at an era where coaching, support, endeavour and fortune will count for more.

It's a sad state of affairs but is the truth and has been for decades.
I begrudgingly acknowledge their determination and street smarts in pursuit of success traits that don't exist at this club. I wish I could be magnanimous about their haul of trophies but realise drinking battery acid has more appeal.
Good pals are reds but, as an entity, I hate LFC with a passion.

Jeff, thanks, completely forgot about that. Seems like 6-7 years ago, doesn't it?
84 Posted 16/10/2021 at 19:37:47
If Brentford had got the draw or win they deserved, I couldn't have begrudged their points, the whole team worked their socks off for each other for every minute of the game and made Chelsea do likewise, well ten of them!!
85 Posted 16/10/2021 at 20:23:00

I thought an Arsenal player caught Gallagher with his foot on the back of his head, it didn't look much and I thought Gallagher was acting the goat, serves him right if he was.
Viera on the touchline looked like he was ready to burst into tears as the Arsenal goal robbed his team of two points.

He said that the South Americans have come up with another suggestion which I haven't heard before. The idea is a Nations Cup where the top South American Countries will play the top European Countries.
I think this is far more interesting than a World Cup every other year.
