Everton Under-18s lost 2-1 at Derby County on Saturday after taking the lead in the first half through a wonderful, acrobatic effort from Tom Cannon.

The home side equalised before half-time and a second-half substitute swung the match for the hosts with a well-taken finish from close range.

The Blues blooded another Everton Academmy youngster at this level in Owen Barker, who got 12 minutes at the end of the game.

Everton U18s: Stewart, Hagan, Lowey, Kristensen, Campbell, Butterfield, Mills (78' Barker), Metcalfe [Y:], Cannon (45' Dobbin), McAllister, Jagne (67' Quintyne).
Subs not Used: Wright, Mallon

Nice to see Dobbin back after his injury, he could add some pace and spark for the remaining FA youth cup games.

Cannons goal was very good but it was far from a “ wonderful acrobatic effort”, there were plenty of young players in the side today, looks like they are going all out to win that FA youth cup, it would be great to see that.

Great news about Dobbin, Dave. I was hoping he might be in the first team squad (like Onyango and Small) by this stage of the season but it's good to see him involved at any level after injury.
