We can still do this right?

Am I doing it again?

Too right, Danny. Hammers & Spurs to experience heavy defeats in their last two matches, whilst we trounce Wolves by a record score. We won't even need to beat City to finish 6th, but will do so anyway!

Danny (1), sorry, you are doing it again, but your big Blue Heart is in the right place.
Derek Moore
4 Posted 18/05/2021 at 12:08:14
Yes, you're doing it again Danny.

We've picked up 6 points at Goodison in calendar 2021 mate, 6 from a possible 33. European football and that wretched form line are mutually exclusive concepts in my view.

This season is done bar the formalities.

ps: Danny, Dennis, Dave and Derek just need a Delroy or Donald to put a shout on the thread. A Darren even.

Fucking nervous hoping for a result against the red shite. It has come to this again. So be it, cmon Chelsea convert the pressure.

Chelsea win best here I think as it would mean the RS having to win both their last games and Chelsea and leicester only having to win their last game (both winnable imo) to ensure 4th spot. Hopefully the Palace players will be pulling their tripe out and give Roy a winning send off on Sunday.

Kevin, can see the red shite over taking Leicester on goal difference though I'm afraid.

On an Everton related note, another impressive 2-goal performance by Ellis Simms for Blackpool in the League One Play-off semi-final away to Oxford. Good highlights here:

Oxford 0 Blackpool 3

Ten goals in 24 appearances now. It's been a good loan.

Ellis has always looked the biggest kid on the block in his age group. His close range finishing never in question, but his all round play and contribution outside the penalty area virtually non-existent.

So check out not only his physique - still a teenager, he still looks big up against seasoned pros - but his movement and technique for his goals.

Most impressive.

Well done Ellis and well done the Blackpool trading staff who recently shared in detail in the Echo how they are working to improve the lad.

Kevin if Leicester lose tonight and win their next game and the rs win both of theirs it will come down to goal difference.

I remember Liverpool beating Palace 9-0, but then losing an FA Cup semi final against them in the same season, and live in hope!

Between VAR, Some very poor laws, and even poorer officials, English football really does deserve better.

A Chelsea win is good for us too because it means Leicester have to beat Spurs in the final game. I know I am in super optimistic mode at the moment but there is still hope, I hope 😀

Hopefully with it being Roys last game the palace players will try and give him a win.

Ooh, suspense and goal diff considerations. Chelsea 2-1

Actually the goal diff is probably out. Red shite would likely have 4 or more up on them against their result vs Spurs.

Harry Kane has upset the apple-cart at Tottenham, Neil, and I'm sure Sam Allardyce would love to upset the West Ham fans!

Neil Copeland

Tony, I wondered about what impact the Harry Kane news would have on Spurs too. I hadn't considered the big Sam effect! That's it, we're nailed on for 6th.

And, Colin, icing on the cake mate!

Funny looking at the table. Moyes and Arteta were the names most heavily linked with Everton beyond Carlo. Heading into to the final day, here we all are together.

Oh dear... Virgil van Dijk may have been murdered last year, but they are now in the Ttop 4. All the coverage of such a poor season they have had, but we just can't take advantage. Opportunity missed.

I honestly don't know how you can genuinely come to that conclusion, Joe, after watching Everton play this season?

One thing that has become noticeable this season is how much having a bigger squad has helped teams stay close to the top of the table, with the lesser squads suffering more when they have key players missing.

Seems like Liverpool have managed to extend their deal with Lucifer.

Head-high boot to clear the ball off Wood's forehead and blatant barge in the back in the penalty area with the game still poised didn't seem to get a VAR review.

Tony Abrahams
39 Posted 19/05/2021 at 22:08:46
Clever play from Lingard, and that should be enough to take West Ham into the Top 6 this season. I'm genuinely hoping we miss out on Europe until we've got a stronger squad I think next season might even be stranger than this one, because of how much football has been condensed into the last 12 months.
Paul Birmingham
40 Posted 19/05/2021 at 22:33:06
On a different scale, winning the old 1st Division title, but similar stakes, Everton spewed the League in 1974-75 and have this season gone out of their way to do their utmost not to qualify for Europe this season, primarily due to very poor home form, the worst in Everton's history,

Massive stakes at every level within the Everton Football Club, this next pre-season. If it doesn't transpire this season, then let's hope there's no more perpetuity till next time. But it keeps Evertonians thinking and dreaming, and having healthy debates on all matters on Everton, life and football.

Nuno has thrown the towel in at Wolves. They say no other club is involved but I wonder if he is hoping for a call from Levy? He's done a good job, but the investment seems to have dried up and they're gradually selling their best players while those remaining get older. Probably a wise move to get out before he gets dragged into a relegation battle.
Dale Self
42 Posted 21/05/2021 at 17:07:12
Just read that, Kieran, please don't let him get involved with the Spurs show. One of the yo-yo clubs are surely making attempts, hopefully the Premier League does not lose him. Actually, he's done enough at Wolves, he could get some better offers than the yo-yo clubs.

Good shout Kieran.

I still wouldn't be surprised to see Tottenham go for Rodgers though.

Kieran Kinsella
44 Posted 21/05/2021 at 17:19:17
Dale/Danny

he may not be a "big" enough name for Levy I suppose but there may be a knock-on effect. If they nab Rodgers or Gasperini from Atalanta, he might be well placed to step in. I like him though, he has done well, he is also one of the few EPL managers who's not a whiney excuse maker. He just rolls with the punches. Plus he is the rare ex-goalie manager.

Good take on Nuno Kieran, did not know he was a keeper. Now that demeanor makes so much more sense. One thing to hope for is that the movement in the coaching ranks presages a fluid transfer market. It does look like some pricey pieces will move early and could do us some good.
