Ouzounidis, Hagan and Macallister pen new deals

Con Ouzounidis has signed a one-year contract extension with Everton.

The young defender's existing terms were up this month but he is now tied to the club until the summer of 2021.

Meanwhile, Harry Hagan has signed his first professional contract with Everton, a two-year deal. Also Sean McAllister. The 17-year-old Northern Irishman has been rewarded for an impressive maiden campaign for Everton U-18s, having joined the Blues from Dungannon Swifts last summer.

An energetic midfield player who combines quality in possession with a strong work ethic and eye for goal, McAllister regularly featured for Paul Tait's talented Everton Under-18s side during the 2019-20 season.

McAllister, from Randalstown, County Antrim, is a current Northern Ireland Under-17 international.

Everton have meanwhile released from the Academy the Italian-born defender Jonathan Anderson, goalkeeper Jack Barrett, and defender Joshua Hosie.

Everton Academy have retained the following U-18 players as scholars: Thomas Cannon, Joel Davidson, Harry Hagan, Liam Higgins, Sebastian Kristensen, Daniel Lowey, Sean McAllister, Jack McIntyre, Tyler Onyango, Dylan Thompson.

I know he's younger than Feeney, but I'm surprised he's got another year when Morgan is off. Con had a long-term injury and maybe he's got 12 months to show what he can do now he's fit. Good luck to the lad, but he's very unlikely to make it with Branthwaite and Gibson ahead of him and he's older than both.

Why? I thought we'd stop offering contracts to League Two players just to fluff up the Under-23s?

What I've seen of Con says he's decent but not looking like first-team potential.

He certainly lacks the skills of Gibson, Astley and Branthwaite. Although smaller in height than Branthwaite, his body is physically bigger, closer to a Tyias Browning type.

Always a difficult decision but, in fairness to him, he progressed well this season when he was playing. He just may get even better and prove us all wrong.

He's signed for one year, why? To help the U23s win games. He is nowhere near good enough for Everton.

And a new contract for Markelo, why? Again to win games. We will never learn... Developers, my arse!!!
