Besic returns to Everton

Another who sadly failed to reach his perceived potential.

Still I'd rather him in the centre of midfield over Schnides.

What's certain is that he will continue his career for buttons, wherever that may be. He'll hang on to this last year of wages like grim death.

Hopefully, we'll read of a 1 million transfer fee. Would indicate we still had to pay part of his wages. But that would mean he's gone.

His contract an impulse purchase, THE worst signing of Roberto's time at Everton. He actually contributed nothing. That's hard to do.

Started off with (what passes from him) a roar vs Chelsea, got injured, and allowed Naismith to come on and score a hat-trick.

But, as with all these 'usual suspects' (Niase etc, the list seems endless), he didn't sign himself or set his own terms and conditions.

Blame the people who signed and signed off on every one of our wastes of space.

He always looked like he gave a shit and was straight in on the tackle. He was kept out by McCarthy when McCarthy was decent; he provided backup to the team when Martinez had us singing about him.

He's nowhere near as bad as these comments are trying to make out. I would put on the bench for a fifth substitute or send him on to kick Henderson, likeable.

Not sure he could have done a lot worse than our succession of mediocre central midfield performances over the last few years. He'll presumably get another loan or a permanent move this summer.

I struggle to understand the contract extension he got, he never showed anywhere near enough to elevate us.

Zero goals. Zero assists. 14 yellow cards.

And one really good performance, against City. One.

I think it's a bit confusing. Fifa changed their rules so that loaned-out players can play for up to three clubs this season, instead of two...

However, I believe that is trumped by a vote of the Premier League stakeholders (aka 'clubs') that no additions can be made to the 25-man squads posted at the end of January 2020 and set for the rest of the season — however long it takes.

So I think that excludes Besic, or anyone else coming back to the club who was not registered in that revised 25-man squad, even though we own them.

Note that there is an exception for youngsters like Branthwaite coming up from the Academy sides (yes, I know he was an import) but the provision is that players under 21 (or is it under 23?) can be added to the 25-man squad at any time.

Such a shame he has never replicated that form but there is/was ability there.

Check him out or not bother?
