'Duncan Ferguson said I was his man. I knew it was my time then’
Saturday, 2 May, 2020Dominic Calvert-Lewin talks of the moment he felt elevated to the status of the number he wears on his back for Everton.
"As soon as Duncan got the job [of interim manager after the sacking of Marco Silva in December last year], he kind of gave me a free rein,” recalled Calvert-Lewin, who had been preparing for a game against Chelsea. “I came in on Friday morning, he put his arm around me straight away and gave me the confidence that I needed.
“He said, ‘You are going to be my man up top, you are going to play.' And, because of the relationship we already had, he was asking me what I thought about certain formations. It was the first time I had been given that responsibility to feel like a true No 9, I guess.

Or do the club see him as Carlos successor?
I personally hope he replaces Ancelotti in the future, I think he has what it takes.
Howard Kendall certainly thought he was the right man!!
