U18s secure massive win at Sunderland

Sunderland U18s 2 - 7 Everton U18s

Everton U18s secured a massive win 7-2 at Sunderland in the North division of their league, thanks to hat-tricks from Lewis Dobbin and Tom Cannon.

That makes 17 goals scored against the Mackems in just two games this season, as Sunderland were on the wrong end of an even bigger beating at Finch Farm back in September, losing 10-0.

The Blues made the breakthrough on 27 minutes when McCallister let fly from range and found the back of the net. Sunderland cancelled out that strike before Dobbin and Cannon opened their accounts for the afternoon just before the interval.

The power and pace from the Everton frontline was proving troublesome for the hosts' defence and Dobbin wasted little time in re-establishing the young Blues' lead. Just 5 minutes before the break, the young winger cut in from the left and beautifully arrowed his right-footed strike past the Black Cats' keeper.

For the hosts, half-time couldn't come quick enough, however, the Blues were just finding their rhythm. In the dying stages of the first 45, the instrumental Katia Kouyate threaded an inch-perfect through-ball into the feet of Cannon, who completed the job with ease.

Sunderland struck two minutes after the restart. However, it soon turned into the Cannon and Dobbin show as the pair both completed hat-tricks to the Blues out of sight. Two quickfire Dobbin goals just shy of the hour mark gave the visitors a commanding 5-2 advantage.

And Cannon completed a stylish performance from the Blues late on. The forward was in the right place at the right time to touch home, before latching onto Dobbin's expertly-timed pass and finishing smartly to conclude the scoring.

Everton Under-18s are now level on points with second-placed Liverpool in the U18 Premier League (North) standings.

Everton U18s: Leban, Welch, Thompson (78' Kristensen), Hosie, Lowey (59' Small), McAllister, Butterfield, Higgins (71' Hagan), Dobbin, Kouyate, Cannon.
Subs not Used: Barrett, Campbell

The U18s are leading Sunderland U18s 7-2 with 5 minutes to go, Dobbin and Cannon with hat-tricks and one from McAllister. Higgins, who came on as a sub last night for the U23s, has started today.

This is one of the youngest sides for years with three schoolboys and two on the bench and seven first-year players starting today... watch this space for the future.

Wonder where you got that from, Dave ;-) ...

Phil (3), the same place I get a lot of my information, off an other Everton website, it's there for everyone if they look.

Indeed it is, Dave, we all share information about our club and passing on scores and updates, that kind of factual information is fine and very helpful. This kind of information is freely available.

Your #2 though is written like it's your opinion, whereas someone else wrote just about those exact same words, having put time, effort and knowledge into assessing the team, make the post and you've just copied it and made out it's your own.

Disappointing. You, others and ToffeeWeb will have a different view, maybe I'm overreacting, so I'll end it there.

Phill, I've read numerous posts from Dave over a few years now and I've never considered them to be other than his own thoughts and words. His posts in the thread don't sound anything other than his normal style.

Phil #5.

You were right about one thing, and one thing, yes you were overreacting!

Talk about petty!

I value what Dave posts or re-posts from elsewhere. Saves me loads of time! Keep 'em coming please.

U18Gate rocks ToffeeWeb as Dave Abraham's makes millions with “plagiarized” comments!!!

Mike Gaynes will tell you – if you get it from sources (plural), it's 'research'...

Edit: The key point is 2-7... Ancelotti should plagiarise the living shit out of that this afternoon!

Only thing to temper the result and performance is that Sunderland have lost all 14 games this season. They're clearly out of their depth in the Northern top division.

Brent #6, Brian#7, re post #2, I know who wrote those words, I did, in a longer post giving my views and sharing information, it's what we do and agree, disagree, quote, misquote. I've no problem with sharing my info.

It's interesting seeing your words under someone else's name, and my first response was to try to tread lightly, hence the “winky face” in my initial response. You think I'm petty, that's your view. I disagree, and it has certainly backfired on me, fair enough that's the end of it from me.

Phill Thompson (12),

I'm glad to give you the credit for the information, all good information about Everton is welcome. I certainly never, ever, write with the intention of claiming something that isn't mine and I have often stated I got information off another Everton website and thanked the person on the website for sharing it.

Phill, carry on giving that data and, if your name is underneath the article, you will have received a thank you from me.

When I lived in Liverpool, I had a mate who we nicknamed "Empty House". I think he'd love ToffeeWeb...

Good result with a young team. Dobbin looks a particular talent. Hope we will see some more of the young players being well developed and getting clearer pathways to first-team opportunities.

I think we've seen recently the U23s playing a younger team, which is good. Players should not play in the U23s for more than 2-3 years max in my opinion.

Dave #13, fair enough. At the end of the day, we're all Toffees sharing info on our club.

Phill (19), absolutely no problem. I know, from your posts, you are a massive Blue and that you take a great interest through all the teams that turn out for Everton. Please carry on with the information of the younger teams, it is of great interest to quite a lot of Everton fans, no matter where it turns up from – and that is meant sincerely.
