Richarlison and Sigurdsson ruled out of Hammers clash

Carlo Ancelotti announced during his pre-match press conference that the Brazilian star has a twisted knee while the Iceland captain has sustained a groin injury.
Jean-Philippe Gbamin has returned to full training but the club are taking a cautious approach with him following surgery on a thigh tendon so he is unlikely to be risked.
The news leaves Ancelotti short again on options in midfield where André Gomes is a long-term absentee and Alex Iwobi isn't due to resume training until next week.
Mason Holgate, used effectively as a midfielder already this season, is an option as it doesn't look as though he will be needed in defence where Yerry Mina was a doubt with an injury problem of his own but is now available.

Now I believe some fans will be happy that Gylfi is injured but hopefully this is not too serious for either of them.
COYB! My prediction is 0-3 and Moise Kean will score his first.

Kean and DCL up top.
I guess Delph and Davies in the midday.
Hopefully a chance for Gordon off the bench. Any other young strikers I wonder, just for the bench?
If Mina is out, Gibson on the bench too?
5 Posted 17/01/2020 at 17:41:56
Come on, Kean, you can do it! COYB.

Beni was out for a while injured after that and has struggled to regain his form in fact Dennis Adeniran looks ahead of him at the moment. The only player deemed to get a first team game at the moment is Gordon although Gibson and Feeney are being pushed.

This is going to mean a battle from every one of the 11 he picks and subs.
Moise Keane needs to use this game to prove he is the real deal.
Score twice an 8, play Tues score twice.
Job done I ll forgive him looking not good enough.
We are scrapping the barrel and after £100 million net spend, something wrong.
Two wins, two weeks off before Watford.
Bring two in minimum, ship out a couple.
Beat Watford and Palace and we are in the mixer for Europa League
But equally we could lose 4 and we could be under real danger of being dragged into a relagation.battle.
Obviously its down to other results going against us.
Ugh!!!Why are we in this situation. Those at top, charged with buying last four years.

At Wigan he played the first game and some fans were scathing of his performance for them. He then dropped to the bench. He then never made the bench again for them, never mind played. Maybe he was injured, but there is no evidence of that. If he was long term injured, wouldn't we have called him back to look after him?
Then he was with the u23s this pre-season and got back into their first team starting 12 of the first 13 games before getting injured at the end of November. He was called up to the first team twice. He was on the bench for West Ham in October, and Norwich in November. 3 days later he played Fleetwood and he was savagely injured by Barton's butchers. He took two big knocks before a third saw him limp off. He's then been out injured before returning to action with the u23s in their first game after their winter break on Monday. We'll find out shortly if he's playing tonight in the PL2 Cup.
It's bizarre what happened to him last season, and Unsworth tried to push him towards the first team this season, but the injury came at a bad time, otherwise he might have got back in the side.
Jay Harris is right though, we've seen far more of Dennis Adeniran with our first team in training than Beni Baningime. I expect Beni to leave on loan this window, if fit.

Carlo will have a tough task tomorrow, but I still believe this squad can rise to the occasion, and in the hour of need.
I still fancy EFC to win, in a much harder game than this one last season.

Richy will be missed for his work rate alone and the hammers will feel more confident with this latest bad news..
I have a bad feeling about this so its time our Italian wonder kid takes his chance

Hopefully Siggy can take advantage of the break too. Neither have had a good season, but both work tirelessly and their running and technical ability could be sorely missed.
Probably my thinking rather than what Ancelotti will do but if we lack creativity I think a more direct counter attacking style may help.
It will be interesting to see what our manager decides as this will not be an easy game. I actually think West Ham have a stronger squad than ours but hoping for at least a point.
I think Kean could be bullied but hoping he can quickly learn and adapt. Him scoring at all would be a bonus but I'd take a draw now with no more injuries.

Moyes is nowhere near the tactician Carlo is and their first 11 are no better than ours.
Win for the blues.
31 Posted 17/01/2020 at 21:50:05
Pickford
Coleman, Holgate, Mina, Digne
Sidibé, Delph, Davies, Bernard
DCL, Kean
Schniederlin, Walcott, Keane, Baines, Gordon, A keeper, Adenerin
32 Posted 17/01/2020 at 22:00:19
Not confident we'll get anything from this - a draw wouldn't be terrible without our best midfielders and best striker.

34 Posted 17/01/2020 at 22:10:59
You are equating Sigurdsson's woeful form to Richarlison's?
He's our most talented player, our biggest goal threat, and whilst he has room to improve, he has a goal ratio of better than one in 3, and he has been shifted from.right wing, to left z and centre forward.
35 Posted 17/01/2020 at 22:31:30
She may struggle a little if thrown in, tomorrow, as she has no Premier League experience.
36 Posted 17/01/2020 at 22:42:53
Does anyone follow the ladies? Never paid much attention truth be told, but I know enough to notice that a lot of the successful England ladies football team had passed through at one point or other. Recently I saw we got relegated and then struggled on coming back up.
This latest signing seems to be another that's quite high profile, so are Everton FC putting more into the ladies team, to try to make them a force as well? It seems they've lacked funding over the last few years.

Everton Ladies (as was) lost some of their best players to Man City and a newly financed Liverpool and ended up being relegated. It looks like we're putting more money into them, now.
Sorry about the peculiar spelling in that post. I've lost my edit button!

Both Rich and Siggy carry a goal threat which we will miss.
Whilst Rich is doing well in patches he gives so many cheap sloppy passes away and makes the wrong decision in the final 3rd to often.
But yes he's doing OK, our most talented player, young and works his socks off which will be another missed attribute.
Siggy works hard but again his passing, crossing and shooting has been below par.
The better most consistent players who maybe benefiting from not playing all season is Holgate, DCL and Davies in that order.
We have a been dreadful away from home all season so I hope for the best but realise where we are right now. In transition but an improving team.

At least with Gomes and Gbamin both back in Training, and any additions we may get in the Transfer Window, we should be good to finish the season off in style.
It's grinding out results like today in the meantime that will determine our final League standing.

Side will need refactoring to compensate. I'd expect Bernard to be given the creative role and Kean to be given his opportunity and I reckon he may take this one.

It will be interesting to see how we cope in midfield without the hated, by some, Sigurdsson, his experience will be missed, I can only imagine Schniederlin will be his replacement, heaven help us. Fitting in Gordon would be a better bet.
It can only make for a fascinating contest. I'm sure if Carlo gets his instructions across precisely, we can nick a precious win, it's been a lucky ground for us in recent years.

Ginge did visit Milan once to see how Ancellotti prepared his teams but they've existed in different universes in football terms ever since. I imagine the only thing ofm got out of that was a free bowl of pasta.

The tackling machine going to PSG is what I would call a big loss, but Richarlison? Good player, maybe even our best... but Na!
Richarlison is one of those players I expect to get better and better, but I agree with Dave A. He hasn't done it anywhere near often enough so far.

Gosh... Just imagine if anyone had the temerity to suggest that about Calvert-Lewin, he would be torn asunder by the one and only arbiter of valid player contribution assessments.
