Former Everton striker, Brian McBride, has been appointed General Manager of the United States international team.

The ex-USA international succeeds Earnie Stewart who was promoted to sporting director last summer and to whom he will report.

He will link up with head coach Gregg Berhalter at a training camp in Florida in the coming days to start his new role.

McBride spent a brief period on loan with the Blues in the 2002-03 season, making eight appearances and scoring four goals.

A 100% committed professional footballer. Never let us down in his brief career with us, unlike the present lot.

I wish him the best of luck.

We definitely should have kept him, did for Fulham from what I remember.

Good luck to him.
