Is Marco Silva mis-using Moise Kean?

Kean has shown very little thus far: questionable control, uncertain ability to beat a man and not a lot that screams: ‘play me'

That said he's had few chances in a struggling team that doesn't play a system that suits Kean's strengths

Being positive: Kean set up a sitter for Walcott v Villa, he's got an assist under his belt v Wolves and hit the post in a league cup game - he appears to have some ability

This is not a Sandro situation whereby one wonders what on earth persuaded us to part with the money

BUT what this is, is club mismanagement: Kean is NOT a lone striker. Fact. Few 19 year olds are

Hence what did Brand and Silva discuss in the summer?

Brands: Hey Silva, will you be persisting with your 433 formation that appears to isolate the top striker during 2019-20?

Silva: Of course! I'm not prepared to vary it under ANY circumstances

Brand: Okay. I have a kid with potential in mind but he won't fit that system

Honestly - don't these dim wits TALK to each other?

In our situation, what we needed (and have needed for YEARS) is 1-2 proven goalscorers not an upgrade on Tarshaj. ie a young striker who ‘could' make it

I actually, on this situation, absolve Silva of blame. Kean isn't ready to lead the line. He's simply not. It's a new country, he's young & inexperienced and the EPL is a tough league. So he actually can't give him a run of games: he'd ruin the lad and our form would be even worse than it currently is

This situation is entirely of Brands' making because he appears not to study our game play, our shape, talk to the manager and understand what's required for our team at a particular given moment

Whatever has happened, it's sad to see this being the case.

Most of us want him to succeed, as it's to our benefit.

Kase, for your information, Marcel Brands' and Marco Silva's offices are only across the corridor from each other at Finch Farm.

Their offices may be only a corridor apart but then they ought to speak to each much more often

Kean could be great but he's just not what we needed in the here and now if we were 1) only looking to buy 1 striker 2) looking to play 1 up top

Awful decision making by the club.

Maybe Marco will be along soon to give him a go as a right winger and then sub him off when it doesn't work.

Did I miss the run of games last season where we played this formation?

4-2-3-1 isolated the striker as our wide players compensate defensively in midfield whereas our number 10 doesn't really offer support to the striker.

A 4-3-3 with inside forwards rather than wingers should offer more support.

However much the lad may be 'one for the future', Silva sees him as no more than fourth choice striker and we all know how little time he has for youngsters, anyway. So if Italian club's are sniffing around, cut a quick deal, take no more gambles and get in a mature striker - on loan if necessary - who might, just might, bag a dozen or so in the second half of the season.

We know Calvert-Lewin is not the future. We know we'll be lucky to get even 10 goals per season from him (and that includes goals he creates with movement). So we bought Kean and then barely play him?
