As for Henry, great we've made some money on him but maybe if we bought a striker that could actually play for us, them maybe we would have finished higher up the league and made even more money.

It was looking increasingly unlikely that he would ever get a Work Permit, so the chances of him donning a blue shirt were thin at best. What you've never had you don't miss!

Slightly off topic but I have read from various sources that Tosun is being lined up for exit too, figures up to £20M are being mentioned, along with Bolasie and Niasse too, whether the veracity of those stories is disputable, only time will tell.

Next summer is the real test when all the deadwood has hopefully gone and we can see a team truly in the Brands - Silva mould.

Takes quite a lot of money just to stand still in the Premier League these days and we're always playing catch up, just we've had the additional dead weights and stupid spending by the previous regimes to weigh us down too.

Unfortunately EFC don't yet have enough clout to persuade the immigration authorities to give him a permit. Would that have been the case if he had been a player for the RS, Manure, Chelski etc? We will never know.

Let's just hope that he doesn't come back to haunt us!

Derek if Tosun does go for around 㿀m (I doubt it to a Turkish club though) and Bolasie and Niasse went for a combined fee of 㾶m-㾸m I think we'd be very well placed to splash the cash in January for a centre back at the very least.

If the above-mentioned transfers go through Brands deserves the plaudits for sure as he'll have shifted a lot of players we really wanted rid of.

Mirallas we'll just never shift unfortunately.

I'm guessing we don't think he's good enough or more effort might've been made. Even another year loan to see if he comes on. Guess we need the money in the bank. Strange all over.

At the end of the day, we doubled our original investment, so it goes down as a tidy bit of business, even though it's disappointing we never got to see him in an Everton shirt.

Terrible shame he's going. We won't be the same without him.

The other big ones to shift might be Walcott and Schneiderlin who are both on 𧴜k each. I'd love to sell both of them in January and replace with the better, younger Olmo and Sangare.

Tosun is on 㿨k which is not too bad for a reserve striker who I think will be highly professional and will always give his all whilst being capable of coming on and hitting the net.

I must admit when I saw Moshiri last year splashing the cash on Richarlison et al, it crossed my mind that it was all just completely unsustainable and that we were headed for a disastrous crash. Thank god, though, those purchases were all sound, and so we can gradually steer ourselves away from the horror of Koeman's reign.

It's gonna be like this for the next few years though, we have to be so careful about how we invest our limited dosh.

So far I don't really see any of the deadwood being cleared. Players like Vlasic, Lookman and Henry while not being valued at Everton are certainly not the problem and it's debatable how well we have done. Certainly my granny could have got £12 million for a young player who had a fantastic scoring season and is a Nigerian international.

Brands had no problem handicapping the coach without a player from his first eleven this season so I would suggest Sam would it not have been more prudent last winter to remove some of the real deadwood like Scneiderlin, Tosun and Walcott last winter who were only squad players when others were desperate and more likely to panic. January is not a time to buy but it is to sell.

So far the only player of note that has been shifted has been McCarthy so let's see how the next few weeks plays out before heralding Brands.

Certainly the club is a different animal under his stewardship and last seasons incomings were exceptional as were the fees and capture of Gomes and Kean in particular. But we should reserve our right to question him as much as we do Silva.

Moving on, wasn't this lad touted as being what we now expect of young Moise Kean? I hope we give the lad (a mere 19) a bit of slack on that basis.

Macca is made of balsa wood, £3.5m was a complete rip off. They'll be lucky to get £1m per game out of him.

Profit on the sale a bonus but there's still a whole lot of dross left. I can see the likes of Mirallas, Niasse, Tosun, Walcott and Bolasie all being on the books until their contracts run down. Best outcome are loans where we still pay some of their wages but these guys are going nowhere on a perm any time soon. Same with Sandro.
