Fresh Everton bid expected after Zaha submits transfer request
Transfer Deadline News

Everton have reportedly had another enormous bid for Wilfried Zaha knocked back by Crystal Palace which has prompted the forward to officially ask for a transfer from Selhurst Park.
Sky Sports News and The Guardian's Ed Aarons, who covers the London area of the country, reported earlier today that Palace have knocked back £70m for Zaha plus James McCarthy and Cenk Tosun on a season-long loan.
That came days after the Blues, having been rebuffed with an offer of around £50m, publicly refuted claims made in the media last week that they had lodged a larger bid of £65m that included midfielder McCarthy and Tosun as part of the deal.
The Eagles are keen for the final fee to be free of part-exchange elements and want as much in cash because of the 25% sell-on fee due to Manchester United should Zaha be sold.
McCarthy is believed to be in the Capital today undergoing a medical on a £8.5m transfer to the Eagles that is expected to go through regardless of the negotiations over Zaha but Aarons said that Palace regard any deal for the Ivory Coast international as “dead”.
He also reported that Zaha is angry at his club for reneging on an agreement made last summer that they would listen to reasonable offers for him and that he is now holding out for a move to a team on the Continent. That situation appears to have changed now with the 26-year-old submitting a transfer request, presumably to push for the switch to Everton.
Paul Joyce of The Times had said that Zaha was pushing for his club to accept Everton's offer before tomorrow's transfer deadline prior to demanding a transfer.
A fresh cash bid is expected from Everton tomorrow but the deal could hinge on Palace lowering their eye-watering £100m asking price now that Zaha has played his hand and asked for a move.

Just a thought, Everton have until 12.00 lunch time to register any new players to play this weekend, if we sign Zaha after 12 then he cannot play against Palace.
May be wrong but would not be suprised if Palace accept an offer after the cut off time.

I keep my eye on the newsfeed though and Everton is certainly making others sit up and take notice. Here are some beaut comments on the BBC live transfer news page which made me chuckle:
"Is there any professional footballer, not being Linked with Everton FC?" - Anon
"Are Everton looking at signing the whole Premier League? Or do they not know who to sign?" - Peter
"I've got an old TV and a sofa I'm getting rid of if Everton are interested" - from Rich, Chester.

They are now in a position to thumb their noses at us. If we don't get a winger in (Walcott is not acceptable to me, I am sorry) and a centre-back by deadline, I have to say it will defo take a "shine" off the window for me.
(Sorry... couldn't resist that un. :)

If you believe even half the supposed offers, we would look rather daft.
I'm thinking there is still a more coherent plan bubbling under the surface.

Javairo Dilrosun - Hertha Berlin
Leon Bailey - Leverkusen
Steven Bergwijn - PSV Eindhoven
Ronny Lopes - AS Monaco
Mikel Oyarzabal - Real Sociedad
And not even mentioning the others already linked.

I desperately want Zaha. I think he'd completely change us from Top 6 maybe to Top 6 definitely overnight. But there's no way we should ever pay north of 㿨 million for him.
We had their valuation met with 㿨 million, Cenk, and James. It's that simple. They're playing hard ball, won't have any other suitors at that price, and never will again after this window.
Walk. Too much money.
And I've read a lot comments akin to, "It's not your money, so why do you care what we pay for a player?"
I care, and would argue everyone should care, because the financial health of a Club is arguably the most important statistic there is. If you love your Club, you certainly do not want them to overspend. Ask Leeds, Portsmouth, etc.
Anything north of 㿨 million, walk away.

I'm with you.
If he is going to sign, it will be after 12:00 tomorrow, so he can't play on Saturday.
Annoying but makes sense from a Palace perspective.
17 Posted 07/08/2019 at 15:24:09
If we actually pay 𧴜 million for Zaha, ridiculous is the only way to define that. Insanity might be another.
If Bramley-Moore Dock costs 𧺬 million, that's 20 percent of the cost to build a new stadium.
I want Zaha. If we pay that much, I'll be pissed we did.

27 Posted 07/08/2019 at 15:31:17
It's huge. This deal, no matter what you think of Zaha as a player, is massive. It improves our squad, and we'd land a player who was coveted by a few "Top 6" clubs.
I think this might be our gatecrash deal.
This is exciting.

㿨m or less;
㿨 - 㿼m;
㿼m +
Also, can Zaha get more than a light blue colour on the Toffeeweb chart, I'd downgrade Doucouré though.

I love, and I mean love, a good conspiracy theory.
I actually have had the exact same thought.
Palace want to keep the money, an accepted offer is in place with Everton and has been for a while, and we're going through a Broadway production so Palace can say, "We didn't have enough time in the transfer window to replace Wilfred after he handed in the transfer request."
Hmmmmm .

The morons at Sky keep banging on about it as though leaving the mighty Crystal Palace for a move to EFC is a backwards step!
I'd love for this to happen just to see the Sky moron's heads explode at the temerity and audacity of EFC signing Zaha! How dare we spend huge sums and sign a player Sky morons want to go to an elite club!!
Note: the biggest Sky moron is 'Michael Bridges' (I think), who has taken particular umbridge with us potentially signing Zaha! I'd love to see his face if we sign him! Just love it!

Has to be one of our better line ups of recent years?
49 Posted 07/08/2019 at 15:48:19
It'll be somewhere between 60 and 80 million is my guess.
It'll be reported as 80 million, but it'll be a hogwash 80 million with 50 million down and a bunch of add-ons and what not.
That's my guess.
This is Moshri's Big Dick Moment, better known as BDM. He's swinging his "club" and letting everyone know he means business. BDM indeed.
Let's hope Zaha lives up to the price tag. I think, in the end, he will.

Zaha is a very good player but 80M should get you far better. I can only think "proven Premier League experience" is the difference between him and other, more promising wingers.

I don't think Zaha is worth the fees being bandied about, but Everton need a finisher and for a change players really want to join for Everton.

I wonder too if we have a bid in for a CB somewhere that is not public knowledge but that the Smalling loan is also part of the "time is running out so make your mind up" strategy?
On another note, I also think the deal might be 㿨M in cash + Tosun.

78 Posted 07/08/2019 at 16:12:09
There will be missteps along the way but there will be no turning back. This is the future of our club and how we will operate. This transfer window is a hugely significant shift for the club and I am not sure that its longer term, deeper implications have been picked up yet by the commentariat.
79 Posted 07/08/2019 at 16:12:10
And given that he's signed through 2023, they could easily tell him to stick his transfer request.
80 Posted 07/08/2019 at 16:12:59
Competition for places will only improve everyone.
I think we are striking a good balance with quality and depth.
Kind of funny, Goffy (sp?) on TalkShite just said, “Everton are offering their whole squad and their new stadium for Wilfred Zaha.â€
Yup.
Can't stop thinking of The Shining Jack Nickolson quote, “Here's Johnny!!â€

Rather this than delighting Arsenal mates of mine here who are praying that we take Iwobi off their hands as they did when Walcott was available-a bullet to dodge it seems.
Sure that Messrs. Brands and Silva know what they are doing but I really would feel easier if the centre half position was made the priority. If there is any merit on the interest in Nathan Ake - again not at the ridiculous amount quoted this morning, then I'd be pleased. I think that he would do well for us.
Keep the faith.

£70m should get you a guaranteed starter at Everton.
I would prefer we offer Lukaku another chance for £70m and then loan a centre back if zouma cannot be done. If lukaku isn't an option then go all in for zouma and a winger on loan with the option to buy.

90 Posted 07/08/2019 at 16:23:34
Due to FFP, what Palace want is a cash injection which gives them more scope to increase the amount they are allowed to spend. It is a long way around a rule, but if we put 㿲M on paper then they give us ٦M for Jimmy and 㾻M for Tosun on paper, this gives us more scope to do dealings.
If I am wrong, can somebody please enlighten me in the 'dumbed down' version of what I believe to be the case?

Nor would they likely perceive any potential loss of value in Zaha between now and January or next July, not the way transfer fees are exploding. He might be worth 20 million more next year just by staying at the same level of play.

Maybe Palace looking for a replacement for Zaha...?
98 Posted 07/08/2019 at 16:36:21
We've been in the hunt for Zaha all along, never mind Iwobi. It's a smokescreen. Now he's handed in a transfer request the day before deadline day, there's a surprise!

Palace saving that money and the money on offer to them it makes the value of the bid higher.
You cant blame them for holding out it's just the same we did with lukaku, john stones ect.
I hope this deal happens. fingers crossed.
Cant wait for the window to close all the refresh on my phone for the Kean deal now this deal is seriously damaging my marriage haha!

112 Posted 07/08/2019 at 17:02:09
After everything Palace has done for him, they developed him into the big time, sold him to UTD, which was something he himself wanted and when it went wrong they took him back and showed him patience so he could gain his confidence back again.
He might come to us, have a good season and then throw his toys out the pram once more because Barca have blown kisses at him.
He's got no class whatsoever the way he's behaving towards Palace, he makes Lukaku look quite the gentleman.
And at the money that's being asked, no thanks.
113 Posted 07/08/2019 at 17:02:24
114 Posted 07/08/2019 at 17:09:22
Is it me or is anyone else seeing how unhappy Lukaku is at United and the fact they are looking for similar money to that of Zaha - should we be thinking of intervening here? I know he left under a cloud and I was at old trafford when he scored against us and his reaction was disrespectful to the away section, but you can't deny his influence in the blue shirt and what he done for us? Not sure how the TW faithful would respond to this?!?!?
115 Posted 07/08/2019 at 17:13:54
On another note, a few have mentioned "top six challenges" - I don't believe for one mknute that Mosh would sanction this level of spending if all that M&M were offering him is an assault on the top six and the prize of a EL place. I firmly believe that they've convinced Mosh that signing Zaha would enable us to seriously challenge for top four and the prize of a CL place. With last season's top seven all having the distraction of Europran games this season this could be our big chance to gatecrash the top table.

I think they've told Mosh Top 4 will happen in the next two years.
It takes time to create familiarity on the pitch between players, learn the system, settle in, etc.
Two years would be my guess. But this absolutely puts the pressure on Marco and raises the bar.
I'd honestly be surprised now if this doesn't happen.

Despite all the welcome midfield and striker additions, it will be irresponsible to start the season with just Keane and Mina - with only Holgate and Pennington as back up.
Hope we've not just been sitting there this summer believing we could get Zouma back, and not enough effort spent in seeking other options.
123 Posted 07/08/2019 at 17:32:08
124 Posted 07/08/2019 at 17:32:10
Its beginning to look like a stop gap CB on loan in the hope we can go and get Zouma in January after he's had a strop about not being picked with the Euros coming up next summer.
Finally Can we ask for a refund on Theo ! If Iwobi transfer happens ?
No wonder I have insomnia.
125 Posted 07/08/2019 at 17:33:22
If we have this sort of money to spend I think we should spend it on a goalscorer.

Also, consider how wisely MB & MS have traded this close season and last two windows.
Then, having measured what you hear/read against the above make a grown up "is it worth reacting ?".
Thanks.

I see Bournemouth have slapped a 75m price tag on Ake at the mere hint of an approach by us.
I just hope we don't get a Utd Reject as back up.
132 Posted 07/08/2019 at 17:50:43
Cant get Zouma this window, don't see the point in spending £30-40m for a backup to Mina and Keane unless its Zouma.
Just loan someone as cover and hope Mina and Keane don't get injured, or use our own reserve defenders, if they don't get a chance they can't come good.
133 Posted 07/08/2019 at 17:53:22
Maybe as an #8, where he doesn't have to shoot... hmmm.
134 Posted 07/08/2019 at 17:58:07
Ridiculous?
There's nothing comical or hilarious about what I've said.
Everything I've said about Zaha at Palace is on the money, I'll bet the Palace fans agree.
Lukaku has/had no real emotional ties to EFC or ManU, I'm not suprised by his behaviour, but it's petulance more than anything.
Zaha on the other hand is biting the hand that fed him from youth, this is a special class of mercenary that Barkley also belongs to.
Martin, if you think this is ridiculous or ok, it's a free forum and you're entitled to your opinion.

143 Posted 07/08/2019 at 18:26:21
If we bid £40m for Doucore then it seems like a physical, athletic, central midfield ball carrier could be on the cards. Iwobi might just be that man.

We could very much look at over taking them in Top 6 this season, Lets get this deal done and a CB and I will look forward to this season with real optomisum (been so long I have forgotten how to spell it !!)

Cannot see Arsenal going for Zaha now after signing Pepe.
The Gooners really need a centre back. What they have at the moment is rubbish.
153 Posted 07/08/2019 at 18:49:40
I wish we would just walk away and find someone else quickly.
154 Posted 07/08/2019 at 18:55:57
Arsenal have been pleading poverty for years, I'd be very surprised if they shelled out over £140m for two wingers in the same window.

Natalie Sawyer will be on TV tomorrow with Jim White.
TY God. My favorite color, for a day, surely will be yellow.
156 Posted 07/08/2019 at 19:03:04
We are now attracting big players, each one that signs makes future players think of Everton as a decent destination.
That is why signing Zaha will be a big step forward for future signings.
Sky and the media are praying we do not sign Zaha.
157 Posted 07/08/2019 at 19:04:00
I apologize for misspelling Moise Kean name ( senior moment ) but I still stand by my concern that the players we have signed, apart from Kean, are replacing or providing cover for players who have been sold or returned from loans to their own clubs. And basically we are the same formation as last season.
As for M.Keans he has scored from corners so who are we to say what he may do as,a striker

I just heard on TalkSport that she's doing the show with Jim White tomorrow. Darren and Goff or whatever their names are, said she's on TV tomorrow.
She had left TV and she does a show on TS - she's on during my afternoon here, so I listen to her a lot.
I certainly hope they were not playing and talking truthfully!

Yep, I can see why Zaha might be pissed off, that's if promises have been broken.
It's sad though that players have the power to make these "or else" demands, this broken promise does show though that he's been "at it" for a while now. Long live player power!!!

TalkSport is bigging up Arsenal like crazy to sign Zaha.
When I first came into this, I honestly, hand on heart, thought that the bias was most likely a sensitive fan base.
It's not. It's a real bias in my opinion. I hear it all the time on sat radio over here.
My emotion of anger and resentment wants me to see Everton sign Zaha even more. And I'm American! Can't imagine how much it pisses the locals off!

You have to care. As a fan, I'd argue you simply have to take interest on our "large" expenditures.
The last thing you want is to turn into a Leeds or Portsmouth. And if you see an expenditure that is just unjustifiable, you have to question it?
In the end it's not our money, and there's nothing you can do about it. But you surely care, and don't want to start chucking money around on a death-road to bankruptcy / administration.
For the record, I don't think Zaha hits that criteria, as Marcel has done a really good job of saving on wages and recouping some money for our "deadweight", which will go a long way to offsetting the wages and cost of a player like Zaha.
193 Posted 07/08/2019 at 20:27:26
More likely it's all about Brands but you would have to include the other 2 for identifying and financing the deals respectively.
To be faced with a near full team of players you have to get off the books would be a job alone.
To persuade the player eg. Sandro to move and a club to buy essentially damaged goods really takes some doing considering what the player is earning. Then to try and reinvent Everton to potential players is another massive achievement for Brands and co.
The Zaha transfer is the only one that appears to be going a bit messy, but come on it was not that long ago we literally couldn't bid for anyone because of lack of funds so this has to be welcomed.
I think Zaha will come and I will just have to put my fingers in my ears when the fee is anounced, I can live with that and I hope thousands of young Evertonians get some glory at last, they deserve it.

Sometimes, I go out with the Mrs. thinking to myself, "I'll have one drink, and then home to bed at a reasonable hour."
A few friends show up to where we go out, we end up at their house or ours, and 10 drinks later at 3 a.m. I call it a night.
Zaha, and the cost to get him, has a lot of parallels mate!
I'm blind drunk on Zaha. I don't know what my ceiling is anymore. Maybe I'll be hurting Friday morning, or maybe I'll think Thursday was one of the best days of my life. I'll letcha know soon enough, but I'm going to keep pushing it! It's too much fun.

The fact is that it's a London based station so it just bigs up London clubs.
I doubt Arsenal are going to come up with another £70/80 million quid after just spending £72 million on Pepe no matter how much Talkcrap drone on about it.
202 Posted 07/08/2019 at 20:39:50
They're talking replacements and even mentioned whether Bolasie could be an option? A couple spoke highly of Tosun.
I didn't read one fan who thought Zaha would or should stay, but pretty much every one of them said he was their favourite player (unsurprisingly). They speak so highly of him that they don't begrudge him pushing for the move. Granted, it was only a small sample of the fanbase, but they seem like a reasonable bunch.
I then went on an Arsenal fansite and half of them feel that Iwobi will be better than Zaha in 2-3 years time, and the other half think he'll be as bad as Walcott. Very much divided in their opinion, but the more reasonable sounding posters spoke very highly of him. The typically impatient/curt and less rational sounding posters think he's shit. An Evertonian has gatecrashed the site and it makes it all the more interesting.

I think the Esk put something on twitter about our finances and FFP earlier.
Personally, I don't want Zaha at that price as the money remaining should be allocated to other priorities.
223 Posted 07/08/2019 at 21:00:35
We have a Board in place that is intent on success. Tomorrow may or may not be a step in that direction. We may need to wait until January, or next summer, to make that impactful signing.
But they've clearly sent a message - they're not going to stop until we see success. And that's what I'll take away from this, signing Zaha or not.

Today, in my work place I have people coming in and envying, yes, envying our club. When Davey Moyes took over he said, and respect to him, we would not be "crisis club Everton", any longer. Now we are in the big time and I love it.

70m + Cenk Tosun looks like the deal, but there is rumour that Palace want another of our players. Who? Besic, Tom ?
255 Posted 07/08/2019 at 22:28:23
Agree with McCarthy and Celtic but on his day David Luiz is class. Weird that Chelsea would let him leave, they must have high hopes for Zouma.
Perhaps Palace can offer better wages... but no CL football. I'd of gone up north if l had that choice.

259 Posted 07/08/2019 at 23:32:44
For example.instead of them paying £10m for JM like we wanted, they paid £3m
£7m comes off the £80m they wanted bringing it down to a £73m bid which is £80m if you included the full asking price of JM.
means united get 25% of £7m less. £1.25m extra in CP pocket.
Speculation I know, would seem mad to give CP JM for £3m when they offered £8m only last week, and Newcastle supposedly bid £5m.
With CP messing us around with Zaha I'm surprised we sent JM the other way instead of gift wrapping him to Newcastle for £2m more!
It's all smokes and mirrors I think CP just trying to bleed this transfer for as much as they possible can, and I cant blame them for that. Hopeful the Zaha deal will happen tomorrow, probably after 12 so he cant be selected for the return to CP on saturday afternoon.

92 Football League clubs x 11 players per team = 1012 players.
With 1,333 Seamus Coleman's we could have 92 clubs full of Seamus's [what's he like in goal]. There would even be some Seamus's left over to make the giant pot of half time tea.
