Everton Under-23s scored two second-half goals to earn a 2-0 win at National League Chorley in their third pre-season friendly on Tuesday night.

An own goal from Joe Anson and late strike from substitute Manasse Mampala — his second in his many matches — saw the young Blues secure victory.

Unsworth said the performance was his side's best of their pre-season programme so far, with the young Blues having previously been edged out by League Two outfits Swindon Town and Morecambe.

Everton U23s: Hansen; Astley, John, Bešic, Feeney (c), Pennington, Evans, Markelo, Hornby, Simms, Gordon.
Subs: Denny, Rose, Mampala, Ouzounidis, Anderson.

Interesting that Besic gets a game in the U-23s.

It's probably just a run out to get his fitness up pending another loan move or permanent transfer.

Both Besic and Pennington asked Unsworth to play, presumably to get match fitness.
Intriguing new name is Goalkeeper Daniel Park, never seen his name before, I don't even think he's one of our new Scholars. Maybe he's just a youngster covering the bench.
