Pro contract for U18s captain Einar Iversen

Captain of the Everton U18 side, Einar Iversen, who is a Norway Under-21 midfielder, has signed his first professional contract.

Iversen, who joined Everton from Norwegian side Stord in 2017, has signed a 3-year deal at Everton, after captaining the Blues' Under-18 side to a 3rd-place finish in the Northern Group last season.

"My whole life I've been dreaming of becoming a professional footballer, so signing this contract is a great feeling for myself and my family," Iversen, 18, told evertonfc.com.

When I saw Everton in the FA youth cup matches last season I was disappointed in that they didn't seem to me to be going all out to win this competition, Iverson was one of the lads who did want to win it, maybe because he was captain, but nevertheless he always looked interested and spurred his team on by his effort and commitment.

A young lad in a foreign country, without his family around him ( I presume) I think he has done very well so far, so carry on the way you are and you have a good chance of making a career out of football. I hope it is with Everton.

Captain of the team even though hes a Swede is a good sign in a kid, must be motivated to be given that as it's usually a local lad who takes up that mantle.

I'm happy to see young Iversen doing well. He talks warmly of Everton and the academy setup and comes across as being happy on Merseyside, which I hope will continue to be a boost to his development. He comes across as a well rounded, grounded kid whose focus is on football so I don't think there will be any disciplinary problems despite the extra money coming in from the pro contract either.

Hopefully he'll be able to cement a place with the U23s this season, and then maybe get a game or two for the first team within the next couple of seasons.

Always happy to see a scandinavian make it through the ranks, my country being part of the northern countries. Sounds promising based on the comments above, all the best to him. COYB.

Good to see the lad rewarded for his honest endeavour and guts. It's no mean feat what he has done to get his contract.

The lad has character and guts, and hopefully keeps his focus and keeps working hard.

He can do it, well done Einar!
