Blues plot formal Koeman approach

15/05/2016  0 Comment  [Jump to last]
Everton will wait until the 2015-16 season ends this weekend before making official overtures to Ronald Koeman report MailOnline.

Koeman is set to hold talks with Southampton in the coming days to discuss an extension to his contract which expires next year, having always said that he intended to honour the deal he signed two seasons ago.

The Dutchman has also said he won't consider any other offers until the current season is over but Rob Draper in the Mail claims that Farhad Moshiri will test Koeman's loyalty to Saints by offering him significantly more money to spend on transfers than would be on offer at St Mary's Stadium.

The report also suggests that Koeman may elect to see out the remaining 12 months on the south coast in the expectation that one of Arsenal or Barcelona could come knocking next year if and when Arsene Wenger and/or Luis Enrique leave those respective clubs.

In the meantime, he has the prospect of another European campaign with Southampton if results go their way today, something that Everton cannot yet offer.

Meanwhile, according to Marca, Roberto Martinez has emerged as a possible candidate to manage Espanyol following his dismissal from the Goodison Park hotseat on Thursday.

The Spanish side just escaped relegation this season and could be looking to replace Constantin Gâlcă.
