Everton consider creating Sporting Director role

13/05/2016  0 Comment  [Jump to last]
Farhad Moshiri could usher in more sweeping changes to the management structure at Everton with the appointment of a sporting director.

The Liverpool Echo report that the club will explore the possibility as they weigh up their next appointment following the dismissal of Roberto Martinez.

The role of chief scout vacated this week by Kevin Reeves would be scrapped under this system, with the sporting director handed a much expanded brief.

Rumoured candidates for the post like Frank de Boer, Ronald Koeman and Manuel Pellegrini all work under directors of football in their respective posts, an arrangement that allows the manager to concentrate on day-to-day team affairs and coaching while decisions over transfer policy and strategic team direction are handled upstairs.
