Evans set for Goodison in 8m deal

A number of media outlets are reporting that Everton are set to sign Jonny Evans from Manchester United.

The 27-year-old defender has been linked with a move to Goodison already this summer but a slew of suggestions from the likes of The Guardian, The Telegraph, The Daily Mail and the Manchester Evening News last evening suggest that a deal worth between 6m and 8m was imminent.

With Martinez in the market for reinforcements at centre half, speculation has intensified that Evans could move to Merseyside, although much of it seems to be coming out of Old Trafford rather than Goodison Park.

The Guardian and the Daily Mail claim that a deal that could reach 8m is in the works for a player who made 15 appearances for the Red Devils last season and 25 the season before that under David Moyes.

According to those reports, Everton value Evans at around 6m, some 4m less than United's valuation but a compromise based on appearances-related add-ons appears to have been struck.
