3, 6, 12, 18 months to late really. Was Moshiri the catalyst - as it really seemed to go down hill from then

Bring Howard and Osman on with half hour to go for their last game for us.
8 Posted 12/05/2016 at 14:38:39
I am surprised that :
a) You report Martinez as having been sacked????
b) Unsworth looking set to be in charge Sunday????
I too am so keen to get rid of this guy, as much as anyone else, but there is still nothing from the OS...until that happens, why "speculate" so officially?
9 Posted 12/05/2016 at 14:41:21
There's a relief out there now - which would turn to optimism if Mr De Boer is in the stands on Sunday

Why would you prefer Duncan Ferguson? He has had a great living from EFC and delivered what in return? Please explain as I really do struggle with why certain fans like Duncan Ferguson, so much.
I would love to see him gone from our club as soon as possible as he was part of the backroom/ coaching staff and being well paid for it no doubt.
Good luck Unsy on Sunday. Let's give it to Norwich in the last game.
16 Posted 12/05/2016 at 15:20:29
I hope it is Unsworth on Sunday but he can't lay into the players he'll have to play Mr Nice Guy till the new boss comes in. I can't see wholesale changes for Sunday; I just hope it works out for him on the day, the supporters will be 100% behind him.

This is a step in the right direction but as I'm sure we'll agree, something that could and should have been done sooner.

We can't just employ out of passion so good bye Dunc. and thanks for years gone by and I hope Unnsy gives Tom Davies some game time to show the senior players what endless energy and ball skills are.

29 Posted 12/05/2016 at 17:48:52
Hopefully all of the Mad Clowns coaches will also be shown the door and Unsie is allowed to work with his backroom team for the game. They'll let the senior players know what is expected as an Everton player with pride in the shirt and respect to the fans!
30 Posted 12/05/2016 at 17:54:16
Time for a new chapter, hopefully Moshiri made the decision and now calls the shots.
What are the odds on Everton making top 4 next year?
31 Posted 12/05/2016 at 18:08:21
I'd give him the benefit of any doubt for now.
32 Posted 12/05/2016 at 18:09:50
The whole squad, like the club itself, needs a huge re-structuring before we can be talking about top-four finishes,
33 Posted 12/05/2016 at 18:35:52
Time moves on and so all our senior coaches need to, my previous employers don't pay me for my love of them and Lukaku's lack of aggression with that physique speaks volumes.
35 Posted 12/05/2016 at 18:48:51
I hope he starts with one youngster at least and has some more on the bench.
All the possible tension and a bad atmosphere has been lifted from the game, it's one to enjoy and the likely victory is still meaningless but one that will let us go home with a smile on our faces.
The hard work begins after the game getting a new man in and telling the players who stay that from now on it is Finch farm training ground and not Finch Farm holiday camp.I got my season ticket late this afternoon and the wait was worthwhile because I got a better seat in the UpperBullens, roll on next season.
38 Posted 12/05/2016 at 19:15:32
Team might be interesting.

41 Posted 12/05/2016 at 19:20:53
Expect Pienaar, Osman and Howard to be given a chance to say goodbye, and the possibility of some youngsters getting 10 minutes at the end. I predict a bit of carnival attitude as the relief and gloom as been lifted and replaced by optimism.

Might actually be an enjoyable occasion after all Sunday.
No hard feelings towards Martinez though, I prefer to remember his better moments in his first year, in particularly ending the horrible Old Trafford hoodoo.
All the best to him for the future, it just wasn't meant to be here for him.

Norwich be very afraid.
Big Dunc comes on as a second half sub.
Oh Yes.

The players will have to show some fight and passion or it could well be a lot shown the door in the summer no matter the size of their ego or belief of how good they are. You play for the shirt and the supporters or you get your lazy overpaid arse out!

58 Posted 12/05/2016 at 21:39:49
One ex-manager who I really wish could have ridden out the storm when things went into decline and the press scented blood. At the start of his final season, I was convinced we were in with an outside chance of getting back up there where we belong. Six months later we were watching Claus Thomsen and Terry Phelan. Fuck my life.
So, not the best of circumstances but it'll be good to see Big Joe back on the bench one last time.
59 Posted 12/05/2016 at 21:51:57
Replacements De Boer a risk, Koeman proven, not forgetting that tackle on Craig Short. Personally I'd have Moyes back, knows the club, the fans and the players, a steady hand after a turbulent season. Those who shout for Duncan must have shit for brains, and I'd really despair for their sanity. A, and piss off the RS, but I don't want him. The clenched fist and gritted teeth masks the fact that the man stole a living from the club and would continue to do so, if allowed.
I'd rather have Benitez players must take responsibility, apologise to the fans, as they too have contrived to get rid of Martinez. Best of luck to Unsie and Big Joe, two true blues and I'd love to see them get a chance.
60 Posted 12/05/2016 at 22:11:55
They will be as fit as they will be on Sunday, the Captain will know who to pick and will also have a handle on who to leave out, for example players who the other players don't like/can't work with . It's one game and aside from the money for places, and remembering the opposition I can not see why anyone's help is needed.
For completeness, absolutely nothing against Big Joe or Rhino
Someone help me??
61 Posted 12/05/2016 at 22:58:21
I'm actually optimistic for a win but if that can't be achieved lets hope that they will be inspired to give 100% effort for 90 mins and play for the shirt, something sadly missing this season.
I hope the lap of dishonour will be cancelled this on Sunday, just like the player awards night was tonight. It would just not feel right having them parade around after such a horror of a season on so many levels. Expect to see a much more normal Goodison on for the match fully behind the team and more forgiving of player errors for this last one of the season, free of the Martinez shackles.
62 Posted 13/05/2016 at 00:15:37
Two true blues in charge so whatever happens we can at least look forward to Sunday now.

Nevertheless, although Martinez HAD TO go, I don't agree with some of the uneccessary vitriol now he's actually out the door.. he just wasn't up to the job, but he hardly gave it to himself did he? And he definately spoke like a fan, never slagging off the fans despite the increasing revolt against him. Maybe he was too busy singing '..my only Everton' when he should have been noticving just how grey the skies were!!).
End of the day, he just didn't know either how to fire up his charges (who also let us ALL down at times, showing what they could really do only in sporadic bursts!), keep them fired up when they did well, nor how to put things right when it wasn't happening, no 'Plan B' and all that. Still, water under the bridge, now, though.. the untenable position breaks.
So.. from hereon it's onwards and upwards, hopefully! Here's hoping we make it a great showing on Sunday, demo for the new man, like.. (Please, god though, not Moyes or Hughes or Benitez the like.. 'stability' and taking NO REAL RISKS we don't need!!).. hopefully de Boer in the stands, for me!.. NEXT SEASON STARTS HERE!!!
'Oh we're the men from Goodison, from days of Dixie Dean, We've got the best supporters the world has ever seen.. .. .. Everton, Everton, We're forever Everton, All for one, One for all, Everton's the team that plays beautiful football'...

69 Posted 13/05/2016 at 06:28:20
As a few have mentioned the fitness side of things is too late now so don't expect too much difference there on Sunday.
Hopefully the thing we will see on Sunday is a bit of passion and fight, even though it's the last meaningless game of the season.
Whoever the next manager, he has to get the squad in as early as possible and get fitness and stamina levels up to at least compete next season.

Royle and Unsworth are a great choice.
It should have happened at Christmas
72 Posted 13/05/2016 at 08:16:35
I agree with everything you say there. When Joe left it was a ridiculous falling out with our second worst Chairman (the worst? No, not Bill in my opinion, but Dr David Marsh who slips under the radar but oversaw huge missed opportunity and is hugely responsible for Everton's decline in the Premier League).
What is also nice, due to the way these things work out sometimes and which doesn't seem to have been picked up by anyone, is that Joe will be managing his first playing club against his last, which seems to be a fitting top and tail to his career as well.

Dowell is likely to either start, or play for at least 20-30 minutes.
Am I alone in feeling that the non-selection of Howard in the eleven would be making a statement?

Pot calling kettle there methinks!
83 Posted 13/05/2016 at 10:57:38
Hope you don't mind, this morning I was trying to explain to my 8 year-old slow-witted nephew the expression 'the pot calling the kettle black' and used that paragraph to illustrate it.
(cheers - he got it immediately).
By the way, if miserable arse ("I'll gi' yuz 200 nicker, 20 Regal and 4 conkers fer Fellaini an Baines") 'knows the fans', he'll fucking keep well away.

Remember last time we looked for a manager? Not exactly 'A' grade names. Koeman, De Boer, Mourinho, Pellegrini, Löw, Mancini... do people have issues with these names? Really? I'd have taken Basil Brush 24 hours ago...
Some names may be pie in the sky. But Neville Southall hit the nail on the head. Everton need to show some 'balls' and at least try for the best. He is shouting for Mourinho. I'm just happy Martinez is gone and that we are being linked to some real winners. Managers that have won big trophies and will bring a winning mentality with him.
For now, I'm just happy seeing Royle and Unsworth in the dug out for Sunday. In fact I'm ecstatic! Looking forward to match for the first time in a while! COYB!

Lineup will be very interesting. I'm in Skem on Sunday and would have probably heard the boos at Goodison from there if El Clowno was still in charge.
88 Posted 13/05/2016 at 13:18:57
Depressing and sadly, a sign of how low some of our fans expectations have fallen.
No thanks very much! Lets aim for the stars eh, we may hit one or two!
Hope Unsy and Big Joe do well and throw more than a few of the kids into the lineup on Sunday. I'm actually looking forward to the match/weekend, and I aint said that for what feels like forever.
