Barry adds to injury woes ahead of Wembley

The midfielder tied David James for the most starts by a player in the Premier League era but he did not reappear for the second half and was replaced by Muhamed Besic.
Roberto Martinez confirmed that the 35-year-old's injury after the match, saying: "It's Gareth's groin so he is very doubtful.
"He felt it very close to half time so we'll see the extent of it. Maybe he came off at the right time. We'll assess it in the morning."
Barry would have been one of the candidates to deputise for Ramiro Funes Mori against Manchester United after the Argentine defender was sent off in the 4-0 drubbing but his likely absence and John Stones's illness means that the Blues will be stretched to the limit in that department at Wembley.
Besic dropped into the back four following Funes Mori's dismissal and was joined by James McCarthy when Stones went off with stomach cramps as there were no defenders named on the substitutes' bench.
With Phil Jagielka unlikely to be fit, Seamus Coleman still doubtful and Brendan Galloway carrying a knock, Martinez may be forced to call up one of his Under-21s players like Callum Connolly or Mason Holgate to fill the breach at the weekend.
"With John Stones, it's just illness," Martinez continued. "We hope he will be fully fit but, clearly, Ramiro Funes Mori is going to miss the game through suspension."

Oviedo at right back proved that the above won't work.
The defence is destroyed, and now Barry too, we need to play Stones at cb along with Galloway or Holgate, Connerly at rb and Baines at lb.
Besic can easily step in for Barry, but we also have the option of Cleverly or Gibson, so it's not all bad. A midfield of Besic and Mccarthy would give us more legs than one with Barry in anyways, it will just offer a little less protection to the defence, that said, the defence hasn't been protected of late anyway.
Simply put, if Coleman and Jags don't recover in time for Saturday then do what United do and play some kids, what's the worst that can happen.

We know whoever plays will let us down, that's what Everton do, nothing changes.
I expect a marginal improvement on last nights shipwreck but there is no way we will keep Rashford and Martial quiet and what the hell are we going to hurt them with?
The goals have completely dried up altogether in the last 10 games .

Stones will be back once he has a good shite.
It's not the personnel that's the issue.

You are 100% correct!
Same with Niasse, just what the hell is this lack of fitness all about? This is a supposedly superior to normal everyday man athlete with professional training yet he still not fit!!!
If you are a footballer you will probably always set foot on the pitch with the odd ache, pain, bruise or twinge, if you are not willing to do that then I'd advise against a career in contact sport.
We seem to possess too many wimps these days.

Martinez is now a proven failure in management in the long term. The anomaly of his managerial career is not the poor performances of the last two seasons or his ENTIRE time at Wigan. The anomaly of his career is how he somehow managed to come 5th in his first season with us.

Sure, we can criticize individual players after every game even when they win which hasn't been often this season but what seemed a one off against Bournemouth has proved since it was a malaise that has stayed with them in many games since.
The defensive set up cannot cope with speed and the dilly-dallying by Stones and Funes Mori bringing the ball out of defence has been shocking.
The attacking options previously exploited by Baines and Coleman have been negated this season and therefore the support to Rom. has been limited. (amazing, he has still scored a bunch).
Whilst Barkley and Lennon have only in spurts offered any meaningful offence, very little has been seen of Mirallas, Kone or sadly, Deulofeu whom so much was expected.
Yesterday's debacle was a culmination of many poor team performances and in no way can Martinez be allowed to continue.

Perhaps playing for under 21's? No.
So where is he when we are short of defenders?

I don't see anything wrong with getting shut of Martinez now as he has cannot do anything to raise this team's morale.
Personally I would play a few youngsters on Saturday as they cannot do any worse and probably have more commitment.
Look how Manure suddenly produced Rashford who has been keeping a big money signing (Memphis) on the bench.

Imagine having to listen to his inane drivel day-in & day-out... Sad days indeed.

I am desperately saddened to admit that I really don't care if they lose on Saturday. Worse still, I probably hope that they do lose so he will be gone in a heartbeat.
I spent today dreaming of a team led by Unsy or even Joe Royle, which included some of our talented youngsters, playing out of their skins and if their lives depended upon it. Better still, the dream ended with a win and unbridled joy and excitement. Do you remember those days? We have to hope.......

Don't think he's on his own either.
