Barkley fit to face Palace

The midfielder was substituted midway through the second half of the 1-1 draw with Watford but does not appear to have sustained any damage.
As expected, however, Phil Jagielka is ruled out and Tom Cleverley is a doubt after picking up an injury in.
Roberto Martinez told the media today that Jagielka will miss the midweek game and Saturday's home match against Southampton but it is too early to assess whether he will have overcome a hamstring strain by the Anfield derby or whether he will be fit to play in the FA Cup semi-final on the 23rd.
“It is too early to say about the semi-final,” said Martínez where Jagielka is concerned.
“He will miss tomorrow's game and the game at the weekend and then we will have to assess it on a daily basis. He is a quick healer and we will know more by Tuesday next week.”
Martinez went into further detail with the Liverpool Echo who report that Jagielka won't participate in training until Monday at the earliest and will undergo a second scan after the first came back as inconclusive.
“Because we scanned it really early, just to try to see if we could use him straight away, the information is not very clear,” Martinez explained.
“We need to allow it to settle down. What's clear is that he can't be working or exercising until Monday and then we will assess him, we will re-scan him and have a clear idea of the extent of the injury at that point.”

Anyway, that's about as high as my interest goes in this game. I think I'll watch Atletico v Barca.

If this recent torrid run continues for too long, it will sap the belief of the players and I wouldn't expect them to suddenly raise their game for Wembley. We have an awful lot of supporters who will travel to the Semi-Final having spent plenty of cash and they particularly the younger fans, deserve to see an Everton team fully committed to the cause, not one bereft of belief so I hope we play well and earn three points tomorrow night and in the rest of the fixtures that precede the Semi-Final.
Roberto isn't going to be sacked before the final days of the season, if it all, so let's just concentrate on getting behind the team and hopefully we can help to push them up the table but more importantly cheer them on to an unlikely triumph in the FA Cup. I know who am I kidding? But we have to try don't we?

Keep Barkley on the bench and run Deulofeu in midfield with Mirallas and Lukaku up front.
It's results that matter from here on in as we have 21 points to play for. six or seven wins on the trot would be great form if we can get past West Ham Uts or Man Utd and play Watford in the final.
We definitely need to get into Europe, how's the Fair Play League looking?

In fact, I would go as far as to say that if that's the case then the whole take-over/investment is purely a smokescreen for this most cancerous of boards to continue with its on-going scam.
Lets hope he is. Sacked

I'm desperate for us to lift the FA Cup. The heart is saying a big Yes but the head is saying a massive "Won't happen".
On another note, apparently there's a video going round of Martinez confronting a fan at Finch Farm after the guy give him a mouthful during the Under-21 match against Chelsea. I don't know if anyone can elaborate but there were the rumours flying round work today...
14 Posted 12/04/2016 at 18:04:54
Let's hope he puts a shift in then eh!
Unlike most of the games he's played this season.
15 Posted 12/04/2016 at 18:06:04
The club is bigger than one man there is no way he's going to be sacked until the summer (if at all) so, until then, COYB!
17 Posted 12/04/2016 at 18:13:28
I know things are a long way from perfect but how many times have you seen Liverpool win a cup with an underperforming team and an overrated manager. And didn't you always want some of it?
This season is our best chance for over 20 years but if we are not careful we will talk ourselves out of whatever chance we do have.
Let's get behind the team ... At least until the cup run is over.
We are not going to get relegated. Once it became apparent we will finish outside the Champions league places, Martinez was absolutely correct to prioritise the cups.
I really don't want us to play so hard over the next three games that we can't perform well in the semi, although I admit to being confused about how we should approach the derby.
All I am saying is let's give ourselves the best chance of some long overdue success.
18 Posted 12/04/2016 at 18:15:28
He has said again that he has 7 years experience as a premier league manager.
The last time he said it, I posted my view, and I'll say it again: He hasn't got 7 years experience, he's got 1 years experience 7 times.
Totally deluded!!!

Just do one MARTINEZ!
21 Posted 12/04/2016 at 19:03:18
Apparently no one is to blame for our poor results... seriously, that's what he said today!

How is no-one to blame? If he genuinely believes these words then it says everything we need to know.
26 Posted 12/04/2016 at 19:50:09
Hopefully he's the quiet type that takes it all in and strikes when you least expect it.
Please Mr Moshiri, give us a clue?
27 Posted 12/04/2016 at 19:52:18
'We are a football club that we have got our own means to compete against anyone, to play eye to eye against anyone and we should be disappointed or happy with the level of performance, and sometimes it shouldn't matter who you are playing against and probably that is what we need to focus on at the end of the season, how strong the performances can be.'
Now , English is my first language and I am ok at crosswords and Countdown, but the above speil has got be conundrummed!
'I'll have an O please Bob!' An O for OUT!!

How about 4-4-2 with Rom and Niasse upfront? Can't be any worse can it?
32 Posted 12/04/2016 at 20:49:37
We need more goals from midfield so I would give young Dowell a run out as, apart from the semi-final, this season is dead now anyway.

34 Posted 12/04/2016 at 22:15:00
How many of our midfielders have scored double figures in a season? People used to worship Arteta and he never got anywhere near such a tally.
I am struggling to think of anyone. Osman used to score 7 or 8, Cahill was regularly in double figures but often played as a striker. Fellaini scored a lot in his last season but again was employed as a forward most of the time.
Can we leave him be? Local lad, great ability and looks like he's been carrying an injury for a while.
35 Posted 12/04/2016 at 22:23:05
Ross is at his best when he's allowed to shoot, and roam, from anywhere around the 18-yard box but it looks like he's been told to stop this. As a traditional midfield player, he is shite as he can't tackle and seems lost in that role. Let him play as an old-fashioned inside right and watch him blossom.

37 Posted 12/04/2016 at 22:54:05
Have a word with yourself lad you arrogant fool. If you don't know how to do certain things you seek advice and get a team around you who can give you support. That is the art of a good manager. To surround yourself with Wigan acolytes who depend on you for a living says it all to me. Even Bainesey tried to tell you and you shot him down in flames.
But I genuinely think you don't listen to anyone because you are so full of yourself. The press conferences say it all for me. Would you buy a used car from this fella?
Take your pay off lad and please go away, the sooner the better.

Also Saturday, Watford put a free kick to our back post for Deeney to try to head across goal, then repeated from a corner. My lad said they're aiming deep on the cross all the time, they know are full backs are beatable there. Corner on HT, back post, 2 Watford players, goal.
Martinez, defending? Since Stubbs went to Hibs it's eroded on a weekly basis. We moaned all the way home. This could be our new investors defining moment if he acts. He must recognise this is no longer a minority, it's a general consensus.
40 Posted 12/04/2016 at 23:45:27
He's also a crux to our recent problems. An attacking midfielder who doesn't get close enough to Lukaku for me and lets players stroll past him in midfield. So what does he bring to the party.
If he was to be missing or benched due to not fully fit it's worth a punt sticking Mirallas up top with Lukaku. The recent game plan seems to be hitting longer balls forward quicker so it really bypasses Barkley and leaves Lukaku isolated.
If only the manager could adjust his formation eh!
44 Posted 13/04/2016 at 01:07:24
"Barkley has a knock" he must have done it getting off the coach 'cos he certainly never gets near enough any of the opposition to get a knock.
Barkley fit for Palace how? He's carrying too much weight and hasn't been fit all season.
Barkley has been awful lately. When has the ball he just dances side to side likes he's line dancing or gives it away and when he hasn't, he trots about lazily.
Nick @36. 100% spot on. Ross looks like he's carrying extra weight. Too top heavy. Watched him carefully on Saturday. There's nothing dynamic in his game at present.
Over to you, Mr Darren Hind
45 Posted 13/04/2016 at 01:19:08
He's playing below his best in a poor side; he's still got decent figures for the season in terms of his goals and assists, and at times he's been unplayable. Ross has continued to give his all, he's never once entertained talk of a move, despite the fact most big clubs in England would take him tomorrow.
During the season almost every player in every side has had dips in form. Look at Sanchez, Mata, Rooney, Courtinho, Eriksson, Harry Kane, Igalho, Ramsey and Ozil. Each of them has had barren spells were they look a shadow of there true selves.
We need to get behind the likes of Ross, even more so than we do for Rom and Del as they are always lauded over, and I'd bet Ross will have a bigger impact throughout his Everton career than either of them two.
Ross should be played in the centre of the park, with an all action defensive midfielder to do his dirty work. He needs players going past him so as he can pick passes to runners in dangerous positions, and most of all he needs to play with freedom, and not being made to be frightened of giving g the ball away and making mistakes.
I hear many blue fans say Barkley is over rated, why on earth do we jump on our own players instead of embracing him. He's one of our own, he's professional and he's quality, what more do we want.
46 Posted 13/04/2016 at 01:59:47
There is a good player in their somewhere, just needs a decent Manager to show him the way....
I would play him tomorrow and on Saturday and give him a rest at the pit next Wednesday, to make sure he is fit for Wembley on the Saturday.
As the song goes. "We've got a diamond...."

Well 84% of ToffeeWeb seem to know, even Sky Sports are onto him with a graphic showing our home points ratio being the 4th worst in all time Premier League history! The trouble is, the egomaniac in the boardroom – with his arm embarrassingly around the new owner's neck – made a staggeringly childish remark about the person who is to blame, and now the pride of the Boys Pen will not allow reason to get in the way of his pride.
So please, Farhad, put us out of our misery – Martinez Out!

Maybe a spell on the sidelines would give him the kick up the arse to get him back to his best.
