It is interesting that he says he would like to go back and play GAA some day. It might become an "issue" in a few years time when he has to think about what age he tries to do that.
It reminds a bit of Tadhg Kennelly who came to the Sydney Swans from Ireland (Kerry) and won the AFL Premiership (first Irish born player to do that). He had a huge urge to go back and play for Kerry and after several seasons with the Swans he went back to play for Kerry for a season, taking a massive pay cut into the bargain.
It worked out well as he was on the Kerry All Ireland winning team (first and only player to win AFL and All Ireland medals). He then came back to the Swans for 2 seasons and then retired.

Kennelly was different in that he had good playing years ahead of him.

One advantage to having started in the professional game at 20/21 years of age, his legs are going to keep going for a tad longer than your overplayed, hyped up, burnt out players like Rooney. Great news for Everton, now if only Baines could find five years somewhere.
