Everton announce price reductions on season tickets

As part of the packages for next season, adult seats can be purchased for only £420 during the Early Bird window, which runs from 21st March to 25th May, and the discount adds to up to a free game based on 2015-16 prices.
Season Tickets for young Evertonians in Junior and Infant schools and aged 11 and under are frozen for the year at £95 – just £5 per game – and are available in any stand across the stadium. The club is also lifting the upper age limit for young Blues from 16 to 18 years old, with the price for that bracket set at £149 throughout the stadium, while the threshold for the Young Adult category, where tickets are fixed at £299 across all stands, has been raised to age 22.
Prices are also reduced in the Senior category with a Season Ticket in any stand in the stadium reduced to £299, representing a saving of between £29 and £86 for the 3,000 fans in this age group.
Chief Executive Officer Robert Elstone said: “Throughout the current season, the Premier League has been challenged on pricing decisions. As we have said repeatedly, we endorse such scrutiny. We have listened and we agree. We believe our pricing plan for Season Tickets for 2016/17 clearly demonstrates our commitment to providing value for money and to making the game accessible to the widest possible cross-section of supporters.”
“After listening to fans, consulting with our Fans’ Forum, considering different options, reviewing budgets and sharing our ideas with the Board, we made the decision to ensure our Season Ticket pricing for 2016/17 offered something for everyone. We were conscious of the substantial uplift in the value of our media rights next season and reflecting how we operate at Everton, not only will we offer significant savings for the majority of our young and senior Evertonians, we will reward all adult Season Ticket holders with a price reduction of one-nineteenth, one free game, and more than £27 off in the Lower Bullens.”
Everton will continue to offer a nine-month interest free payment option through MasterCard, and a Direct Debit facility available over 10 monthly instalments. There will be no booking fee for online transactions.

Hopefully this reduction will become a yearly one.

The massive increase in media generated revenue next season has clearly allowed them to make this gesture, just not sure how much is due to goodwill on behalf of the club, or a facesaving exercise on the back of the recent telephone poll to current season ticket holders?

Admirable as that is, this gesture has been made possible by the mammoth infusion of media money (negotiated for by the Premier League executive on behalf of all 20 members) and not due in any way to any initiatives the Everton ownership or board have made.
For this reason, Martin Mason's heavy sarcasm and barely veiled, but typical, sycophantic and genuflecting attitude towards the board, is ... 'misguided.'

No matter it was excellent all round.
27 Posted 04/03/2016 at 20:58:42
Encourage the kids n youngsters, reward and respect the Senior Blues. Flawless.
28 Posted 04/03/2016 at 20:58:48
The current policy is to offer the least and to charge the most. We have to seriously have to look at this. As a parent I cant feed my kids any of the rubbish that is sold and even if I did I would have to take out a 2nd mortgage.
29 Posted 04/03/2016 at 20:59:43
After our Goodison results this season I suppose they could never actually justify hiking the prices up could they?

Got the postcard through the door this morning, I was expecting a freeze or a small increase, but given some of the crap we've had to watch at home this season it's good to have a reduction for next season.

Hopefully on the pitch we are returning to "The School of Science" but off it, it seems we are still very much "The People's Club". Long may it continue.

Read my post more carefully. I praised the club on two fronts, for being the only ones standing up for a cap on away tickets and for this initiative announced today.
I also wrote: "...this gesture has been made possible by the mammoth infusion of media money (negotiated for by the PL executive on behalf of all 20 members) and not due in any way to any initiatives the Everton ownership or board have made."
A pretty accurate summary, I humbly suggest, as the accounts will continue to show there has been no great infusion of monies from commercial initiatives taken by the board, or indeed no digging into their own pockets to fund any such initiatives or improvement in any aspect of the club's infrastructure.
Therefore, it is ONLY the influx of media money that has made this gesture by the board possible.
Whether the other 19 other clubs follow Everton's initiative is a non sequitur and rather a moot point, IMO.

Not sure why people link this to our poor home form, it is not difficult to replace a manager these days, harder to lower the prices despite the additional revenue. Tomorrow will be a tough game so hopeful for the best.

I'm just thankful it wasn't announced by Roberto. ToffeeWeb would have been up in arms!

The club could have easily gone the other way with the club looking to purchase goods up front from Harrods, rather than the usual monthly repayments from M&S in the summer transfer window.
This is a positive news from a club trying to stay in touch with its fan base.
59 Posted 04/03/2016 at 00:05:19
And, of course, it's because of the extra media income. Why you should expect directors to make gestures like this 'out of their own pockets' is beyond me.
Well done Bill and Everton FC .

Mind you, I don't know what a paper round is paying nowadays.
They could probably make more on the tickets but this is effectively an investment in the next generation of Evertonians.
62 Posted 05/03/2016 at 00:53:56
However, it should be fair to everyone. Over the past three years I have been fortunate enough to be able to watch the blues from the Captains table. It is corporate but at the lower end of our offerings.
As season ticket prices were frozen in every stand last year, our prices increased. The communication from Everton today is that we will find out our prices for next year in two weeks. Why not now? Am I about to be screwed again? Last year was unfair. Please don't push us again. There is a breaking point for all of us.

Have to agree with those who think that projected season ticket sales were going to be really bad after the telephone survey.
Bottom line is our very poor home form did not bode too well for next season. This is down to Martinez so maybe the new owner will be taking all this into consideration.
Well done Everton for thinking long term. Lets hope we have a strong finish to this season, that will give the fans something to look forward to next season.

Once again, I am NOT criticising BK or the board for taking this initiative. In my original post I praise the club twice for their standalone stance on a capping on the price of away tickets and for today's announcement on reducing the price of home tickets. I am well chuffed and proud of the club for doing so and extremely happy for the many beneficiaries of such a move.
My original post was a direct response (as is clear, if you read posts more diligently) to a heavily sarcastic post by a certain poster which subsequently was deleted by the editors.
My post at 45 you comment on is a legitimate observation which you distort. I am NOT saying this is NOT an initiative by the board. Of course it is!
What I AM saying - and you evidently agree with me - is ... only - ONLY! - the infusion of media money has made this initiative possible
Because, as I also accurately wrote, such a windfall of monies which gives the board the wriggle room to take this fantastic initiative is NOT from commercial initiatives taken by the said board, or indeed by them digging into their own pockets to fund this particular initiative or improvement in any aspect of the club's infrastructure.
Capiche..?
67 Posted 05/03/2016 at 02:35:32
When the new guy came in we had posts expecting players to be sold, season ticket hikes.
Hes giving money to strengthen the squad, reduced season ticket prices, and still unhappy folk.
Even a price freeze would have got my vote, but to reduce price, hats off to Everton Football Club.

74 Posted 05/03/2016 at 07:47:26
Surprised they havnt got more PR over this. Maybe we need a new PR team or the guy who went to Blackburn back.
However, how can these decisions be rubber stamped when we don't know who owns the club? Is this a sign that they are confident that the PL will accept our new owner? Or maybe they already have? I don't remember any other club having to wait as long as this.
75 Posted 05/03/2016 at 08:39:00

Publicity masterstroke as there are comparison surveys on price yields every year by the tabloids and this will finally be a table topped by Everton.
79 Posted 05/03/2016 at 09:46:51
Full houses are a great sight, and we will no doubt sell out our full season ticket allocation for next season. We are on the way back to the top!
We could quite easily fill a 50,000 seater stadium. We sell out now, with awful facilities and a 21 year trophy drought! Bring it on Mr. Moshiri.
80 Posted 05/03/2016 at 10:28:16
Not the same sitting here there and everywhere.
Well done to the club for making it easier. especially for younger mams and dads who must really struggle

Well said mate you will always get the terminally unhappy moaning old gits on here.
But if we did not have them toffeweb would be a bit dull.

To announce the long awaited arrival of our billionaire owner (a genuine business man whom I believe will push our club on and into the new era of premier league football in a way that the old owners could ever dream of), our club could have been forgiven for putting prices up, with the promise of spending big.
This is not the Everton way, our club have again put the common fan first and repaid our faith with there loyalty and respect.
Long may it continue.

Ticket prices reduced... typical Everton, thinking small.
Today made me feel sick. I can't / won't blame the players. Even down to 10 men, we were the better side. Then our thick-as-shit manager fucks it up, as he has all season. Sack him now.

A second shit season on the bounce is a disgrace. No backbone. No pride and No leadership both on and off the pitch... The new shareholder has a lot of big decisions to make. Let's hope they are the right ones to take us forward.
At the moment, we are going backwards under this leadership .Without Rom's goals, we would almost certainly be in the bottom 3.. .God help us.
