Listened to Ian Bishop on the radio the other night. Ex-blue youngster and West Ham legend before moving on to City.
Still a Blue, he said he learnt the basics up till the age of 18 with Everton but it was his 4 years competitive action with Carlisle which made him a footballer. When he returned from Carlisle some of his old mates were still playing reserve football while he had 90 league games under his belt.

Holgate for instance could do very well having stayed where he was for another season. Clearly was getting great development is surroundings he was happy in. As opposed to jumping one month here another there.
