Naismith hopes to thank Everton fans with debut Norwich goal against Liverpool

“Being at Everton was probably as comfortable as I have ever been in my football career but the problem was the amount of minutes I was getting on the park, and so that was always going to have a bearing because football is such a short career.
“It has been a topic that has been brought up a lot since I made the move and if I can start my Norwich career like I did my Everton one, by scoring my first goal against Liverpool, then that would be great,” said Naismith, who scored in 2012 derby at Goodison.

All the best at Norwich and I hope he helps them stay up.

A fine young man and a great example to our players on how to apply themselves.
Hope he does really well in the future cos he deserves it!

HOWEVER...
I'd pick Barkley over him any day and ultimately that's who he's competing with, because he's certainly no striker or winger.
After the Chelsea game, which was marvellous if not a complete freak, he was given chances but reverted to almost anonymity.
No doubt people will use this goal as a stick to beat Martinez. Totally unjust in my mind. Good decision to sell. Even if he goes on to bag a hat-trick today...which I hope he does!
18 Posted 23/01/2016 at 13:43:51
God forbid anything happens to Lukaku, but at present who else do we have that can play up front?

20 Posted 23/01/2016 at 13:49:31
My point really was that there is always the knee-jerk reaction when a player is sold and then scores a goal in their first game.
21 Posted 23/01/2016 at 13:50:51
Watching Liverpool appeal for every decision, their goalie punches the ball out for a corner and appeals for a goal kick,we stand mute over everything, if you don't appeal you get nothing, keep it up Norwich.

Then we said "oh he's not a good as our wingers." Well he's not a winger.
"He's not scoring enough for a striker." Well, he wasn't been played as a striker.

Firminho starting to look a decent player but then that's what £20 million does for you I suppose.

How did we only score one against Liverpool's defence??
By the way, not sure about Declan Rudd, looks no better than Howard, too slow off his line and at fault for a good few goals here!

Mind you, Naismith never did win against the RedShite. And the RedShite really are shite.
I hope the whole Everton team are watching this match.

That backpass from Martin for their third (?) goal is probably the worse I've seen.
51 Posted 23/01/2016 at 14:41:21
Norwich were worse than Everton at defending and Liverpool were not much better, but they won.

53 Posted 23/01/2016 at 14:43:36
These men call themselves professional footballers but something somewhere has seriously gone wrong in this country with defending and learning the youth the art of defending!

As has been pointed out as well, Chelsea get the added time... we never seem to get lady luck on our side!!!
Feeling like we are being punished all the time for one or two laspes in concentration!!!
58 Posted 23/01/2016 at 14:46:34
Two poor teams and we haven't beat either.
This be a good training video for Everton.
Redshite now up to 7th... we have to hammer Swansea tomorrow. Are you all confident? Not me either.
59 Posted 23/01/2016 at 14:46:49
I agree. He's almost on the halfway line and he didn't even look up. just hit it towards his own goal.
Also why did their player head the ball back into the middle of the box instead of out for Liverpool's 5th? Made our defense look like the Berlin Wall.

Today the ref added 24 seconds to the 95 after two long goal celebrations in added time.
There seems to be no consistency or logic in how the refs are interpreting added time. A conspiracy theorist would claim the only logic is that added time must favour the SKY favorites.
Well anyway very entertaining game and I already miss Naismith.
62 Posted 23/01/2016 at 14:50:56
In fairness to the header for the last goal, he was under pressure. Norwich have invested in a new centre back who they'd better hope is a goodun'.

Jesus, I would love to get the RS in the final. They are a really shitty, but lucky, team and I'd love to batter those jammy gets at Wembley.
65 Posted 23/01/2016 at 15:06:58
The one shining light was seeing what a poor team Liverpool are, even with a supposed top coach. Also great to see Naisie played as a striker with the ball in front of him scoring one and making one on his debut proper made up for him!

67 Posted 23/01/2016 at 15:58:19
I hope he does well at Norwich, I wonder how long before he becomes a bench warmer? Don't we have any kids coming thru?

"The one shining light was seeing what a poor team Liverpool are, even with a supposed top coach."
Liverpool have been poor all season but still managed to get a point a Goodison Park. So what does that make us, given we are 5 points behind them in the league (with a game in hand)?
A month away from the Anfield derby I'd love to gloat over that lot for once but let's see if our boys are actually up to turning over a poor RS side. Or are we just as poor?
By the way, I hate to say it, but they scraped a winner in injury time while sadly our lot don't seem to be able to manage that (except on Tyneside).
They are the facts. Just sayin' ......
