Everton's most difficult opponent? Everton
In his latest column for the Echo, Michael Ball continues his frank assessment of the Blues' frustrating recent form and calls for brave decisions from Roberto Martinez, including giving Joel Robles a long overdue shot at earning the first-choice goalkeeper's role.

Not being sarcastic here,,,but stating the obvious aint going to help. If the manager cannot see the faults with the keeper and defence...he shouldnt be the manager!! Every single fan watches the match and thinks "WTF is kone doing on the pitch?"
But there he is...every game.

To bloody true. I have seen some poor Everton teams over the years and some poor players. The team of the early 1980s springs to mind until Howard Kendall found a winning formula. But this current squad is full of internationals, full of talent, full of skill, and full of promise. But no bloody nous. No bloody idea on how to close a game out. No idea on how to park the bus. I for one would not fault them for parking the bus, as long as Everton win. Three - two would have done me, the other day. Yes we do often shoot ourselves in the foot. Yes Everton are Evertons worst enemies . Board....Manager...coaching staff...and a number of players. All culpable.

Spot on Micheal Ball - RM should have shut up shop at 3-2; instead Stoke made changes and we were on the back foot and the inevitable happened.
Tactical nativity. RM needs to learn and fast and he shouldn't have changed the winning team from Newcastle. How can 2 footballers warming the bench all season need a complete break but Rom, Barkley, Barry and Co apparently don't.

Howard Kendall's teams of the 80s became a success after Mick Heaton was replaced by Colin Harvey as first team coach. Everyone can see a change of coach, someone who can coach the defensive basics to our players, is urgently needed.
The present coach had the same tactical problems at Wigan when they got relegated; Roberto has not learned anything from that relegation experience obviously.

So Michael Ball can see it, all the fans can see it and presumably the players have an inkling...why on earth can't RM see it?
