From My Seat: Everton (A)

A Sunderland fan gives a withering assessment of the value for money for visiting supporters at Goodison Park:

As far as Im concerned, as an away supporter, whatever they say about investment, poor commercial income, or anything else, Everton FC are minted (geddit?). Theyre in Deloittes 2015 Money League with revenues of 144 million. They have the 20th greatest revenue of all of the football clubs in the world and, with an even better TV deal coming, they can only get richer. They have no excuse for ripping off fans by charging them top prices for second-rate facilities.

Dear Mr Elstone, Mr Kenwright et al, please stop your bleating about The Peoples Club. Stop ripping off people. You give us 1960s facilities. You give us 1960s views. You even give us a 1960s tune when you send the teams out.

How about charging us 1960s prices?

At least next season he can go and visit Rotherham, Bristol City, Charlton and watch his 1960's Sam Allardyce hoofball.

I would totally agree that the price of food and drinks is a complete rip off but would imagine it's the same at most grounds, also any sporting event just like cinemas.

I never purchase refreshments at football grounds or cinemas.

Just how much longer do we go on without any deliverable plan to address our stadium issues? Another generation?

I find it absolutely amazing how the majority shareholders of EFC (Earl & Woods included) are given such an easy ride by fans who have to put up with our 'facilities'.

The WHP pipe dream has now been exposed as dead in the water, yet there is a plane due to be flown over GP next Saturday, 'thanking' Mr Kenwright. I don't know what for, but maybe we will find out in due course.

Funny lot, us Evertonians.

I would expect this would be a reasonably common opinion, especially from the Lower Bullens!

Just read the article and can't disagree with any of the substantive points really.

How long can Bullens Road go on for?

I'd give that Sunderland supporter ten out ten for the truth of his article.

Spot on.

When I first went to Goodison in 1990 it was still one of the best stadiums in the country. We've been left so far behind it's embarrassing.
