Ex-Everton striker Bent charged with affray

A police report states that a taser was deployed at the home of the former Everton striker after authorities were threatened with weapons.
Bent, who was signed by David Moyes on a free transfer, played for the Blues between 2004 and 2006, scoring eight goals in 38 starts.

However, he worked his balls off for the cause in brilliant 1st half of the 2004-05 season and his contribution was crucial in the 4-5-1 formation that was getting results.
His nose was pushed out of joint with the stupid acquisition of big tits Beattie and our form tailed off with the big money flop in the side. He just didn't have the pace or movement to play the lone frontman role.
Bought for £450k and sold 18 months later for over £2M looks a good deal, but his efforts in us getting 4th in 2005 shouldn't be forgotten.
He obviously has personal problems now and I hope he sorts his life out.

Anyhow, I am sorry to hear all this about Marcus Bent. I remember him scoring a thunderbolt against (I think) Birmingham, to earn Everton a point. It was a game that they really deserved to get nothing. Hope the lad gets himself sorted out.

Hope he gets his head straight soon !

He did a fantastic job for us and when I read a report on him about a year ago he said Everton was the best Club he played for out of about a dozen altogether.
He was a key player in that season we came 4th after Rooney left and he worked his arse off.

Didn't he try and pull that at Everton. After being quizzed for calling a ball-boy "white boy" he declared with a straight-face that the crowd had been throwing bananas at him. Utter fantasist.

I don't like Gerrard, but give me him over the horrible Diouf anyday of the week.
He's been a stain on this sport for years.
Gerrard can be accused of many things, but hating black people isn't one of them.

Well said. I remember that incident with the odious Diouf with the ball boy in front of the Paddock very well.

I was amused by this part of the Gerrard/Diouf ding-dong:
"Gerrard has never liked black people. When I was in Liverpool, I showed him that I was black....".
Eh? Like he never noticed until you pointed it out, El Hadji? There was me thinking the 'I'm really, really, colour blind' excuse was just a convenient get out to explain away why he was pictured in an Everton kit holding up the league trophy as a kid.

Those 6 months, he was unbelievable. It was 9 workhorses, a keeper and maddog in a free role. His touch might just be the best I've ever seen.
I recall an article in the observer the year before when Journos had been given "access" to Moyes instead of Rooney to pacify them. The Journo was majorly impressed with Gravesen's touch and skills as at that time people still thought that Gravesen was a Carsley. And as Real Madrid found out, how wrong they were about that.

Maybe that's why this dynamo who would harry, chase and defend from the front was so easily replaced once the pie man Beattie turned up.
