Everton FC fans deserve answers from a board whose silence is creating unrest and division

With its now divorced sister paper, the Echo, not yet willing to fully grasp the nettle, the Daily Post has taken on the issue of unrest among the Everton fans with this article by Everton fan Gary Porter.

The time has come for the powers-that-be to communicate with what could quickly become a divided and warring fanbase. What exactly is the long-term plan for Everton? How are we going to smash through the glass ceiling that has been hovering above our heads for so long?

Just read the well written Daily Post article.

Probably the first time I've seen an actual regional/national media piece which asks the questions about the boards running of the club. Either this guy is serious about doing some investigative work and highlighting the issues, or the lifetime supply of theatre tickets offer hasn't come his way from Bill Kenwright Productions yet.

Just reflective of the culture of today.

Demanding information now, information that is not open to the public and never would be be any business.

As much as us fans would love to be kept in the loop, we have no right to it.

It's a business (not to us) so it is run as a business (badly, most of the times) and as customers we don't have a say on the inner workings of said business and don't have a right to all their dirty little secrets.

We all invest into this club, financially and emotionally but ultimately we have as much right to this information as we have to asking Harrods to any sensitive financial information.

We want answers!, we cry - So? is the response.

Customers can just wander off and see a better product any day they fancy.

Tony J, I disagree. Customers of Harrods who are upset Will be replaced. It is our concern, and if the board say; so ? It is in our power to fuck up their investment beyond recovery. Football is like no other business and to talk of our board as if they run a business in the real world is ludicrous.

In my view running a football club requires huge, endless wealth, or..imagination, innovation, nous, acumen and a bit of luck. We are short on both options.

Without the fans there is no club.

Boards can be forced out. They did it across the park. Johnson was hounded out.

It's all a game. Of course they don't have to answer questions raised by the fans. But failure to do so will only increase the tensions.

I don't think it's unreasonable to ask the board what price we are for sale at? The board are on record saying that we are for sale.

If I want to sell a pushbike, my car or my house, I put it on the market for a certain price. That price is in the public domain.

Why is selling a football club different?

Richard. Read what I said. If I was a "customer" I'd just look at EFC and go "Nah" I can see Chelsea, Man City (whoever) and let then be my dream team.

Of course, I'm a lifelong fan of Everton and anyone who calls any Blue "a customer" should be as dismissive as you are.

There is a massive difference between being a supporter and a customer.

Of couse we have to pay to get in. How else would we fund any improvements in the aquad or the ground.

We'd be supoporters if we watched Everton play on Stanley Park with a pile of coats for goals. And if this frigging board don't get their act into gear, that's jsut wher we might end up.

[Puts hands on hips, does that side-to-side head thing...]

Richard and JIm, I agree that I don't see myself as a customer but the club clearly does.... and that's all that matters to them.

No matter how much we want to know the ins and outs of the club, were are simply not legally entitled to it.

Danny, those red pricks did not force out the first set of yanks at all, the banks did.

What bit of difference would make for the fans knowing how much the board want for the club? If we don't like the set price, what do we do? Hire a fucking plane?
