Under-21s register another friendly win

The Blues' second string came off a 3-1 win against Glenavon on Saturday and took a 2-0 first-half lead against the Welsh side thanks to goals by Antonee Robinson and Antony Evans.
And David Unsworth's men increased their advantage in the second period when Conor Grant thumped a shot home from the edge of the area.
The result means that the U21s have won all five of their pre-season games so far, with two more come against Southport and Tranmere.

He smashed a real beauty home a couple of weeks ago and has now added another. I haven't seen him play but we wouldn't promote a 16-year-old to the U21s if we didn't think he could hold his own. Let's hope he continues to progress...

Henen also stood out when he came on; he could've had 2 easy, only missed one and squared unselfishly for the second. These two plus our two full backs look good prospects.

I like quite a few of these players and I hope they can make a career somewhere if not here. As usual, a lot will depend upon their attitude and commitment as Junior and George Green will be able to testify. It is probably all too easy to go off the rails when you are stuck playing reserve football year after year so it is good that Martinez understands how crucial loan moves can be.
