Martinez quashes McGeady rumours

The Republic of Ireland international has been the subject of a number of stories suggesting he could be on his way out of Goodison after just 18 months, with his old club Celtic and Sunderland reportedly interested.
One report claimed that the Glasgow club had had a £1m offer for McGeady rejected but Martinez insists there is "nothing" in the speculation.
"Aiden is an exceptionally talented player and I'm looking forward to seeing him fully fit and playing again," the manager told the media in Singapore today ahead of the first Barclays Asia Trophy game against Stoke tomorrow.
McGeady did not make the trip to the Far East because of the recurrence of the hamstring problems that disrupted his 2014-15 season and the club's medical staff are working to get to the bottom of the complaint.

The guy has done nothing particularly wrong except not play well. His "exceptional talent" is no consolation if we never get to see it.
If I was Aiden I would move on as I cannot see him getting a game....

9 times out of 10 he says one thing but does another.

The statement about McGeady just means he's not selling him.

Exactly!
I wonder what those above would say if Martinez said "McGeady is crap and actually that is the main reason he did not come out here with us, we are keeping our fingers crossed we get a bit if money for him."

I prefer to think Roberto is doing his usual spin to raise the price. If a club makes a bid of around ٢m he will go. We could then sign Lennon for a similar amount.

If you add up all of McGeady's playing time since he joined us, you're likely to find about ten to fifteen minutes of 'fairly talented' play. Please get real Roberto, sell him while he still has a minimal transfer value and put the money towards a decent centre-back, goalkeeper or this mythical Number 10 we keep hearing about.

Mirallas (possibly on his way out if rumors are to be believed)
Pienaar - talented but getting older and won't play a full season
Deulofeu - Is still young so will blow hot and cold and will be protected on occasion
McGeady - Inconsistent but on his day can be something special
Lennon is not here and I suspect won't be coming unless Mirallas goes in the other direction which I hope is not the case.
The cash from selling McGeady won't buy much either; so I reckon he's staying and the remaining cash is for the elusive Number 10 and a Central Defender on Loan.

Then onto a creative midfielder and centre back and I think we are done, unless we let McCarthy or Mirallas leave, then we would need a like-for-like replacement.
I would like to see a new goalkeeper in also, but I don't feel that is a position that we should be desperate to address given the needs of other areas of the squad.

What club is interested in signing that player?
Besides which, he's a Roberto signing. He's staying.

Bye Bye, Aiden...

Sell him.
And forget that headless chicken, flash-in-the-pan, never-really-made-it, no-goal-threat, too old, option that is Lennon.
Just give Mirallas whatever it needs to keep him happy - as he's the only pure matchwinner we have. Maverick he may be, but boy does he know where the goal is. Would be devastating if we let him go, especially in some form of weird swap deal for the above...

As for McGeady, he hasn't been quite as good as I had hoped but he's still an adequate backup when healthy. Unless we get another winger, I can't see him going.

Martinez likes him. A good impact player who can chase down pacey subs and cross the ball from both sides.
