Everton want Mandzukic to join his pal
Everton are said to be 'trailing' Croatia striker Mario Mandzukic The Mirror claim they could land him for a 'bargain' £7million. The Croatia hitman is one of the stars of Euro 2012 so far with his three goals in two games.
Mandzukic is supposedly on the radar of other Premier League sides too, because he is available at a 'fair' price from his German club, Wolfsburg.
The 26-year-old was signed by Wolfsburg's then-coach Steve McClaren — a friend of Everton boss David Moyes's No 2 Steve Round — for £6million and has two years left on his contract.

I think we would be better off with Pilar. To my mind a cracking workhorse, and has goals in his agenda.
Sounds great, just wonder where the £7M is coming from and who is going to talk to him, ie, is Davey staying?
I have been watching him thinking he would fit in well as he charges the balls down and works hard.
At £3-4M, a yes; willing workhorse.
£7M... No, ta.
Pilar just signed with Wolfsburg. I like the look of Gebre Selassie, the right back. Would be available for a very cheap price as well.
Just to stir it up a bit more, if Moyes goes and Slaven Bilić takes over .. I could see a few intresting moves happening ... As said, just stirring!
Bilic another one unavailable, off to Bily's old club.
Pie in the sky again!
Let's keep Moyes, Fellaini and Baines AND OF COURSE buy Pienaar!
I don't know where these rumours come from. We haven't two ha'pennies to rub together!
Fuck knows where the £7M would come from?
I wouldn't be surprised to see Prajnic sign. He's a free agent now... hee would be cover for Baines and a decent squad player who can also play as a winger.
Personally I think Mandzukic looks like a poor man's Jelavic and not worth more than £4m.
Out of our league... but Dzagoev looks quality and Pilar would definitely be a good Pienaar alternative.
Sam - I agree. This Russian is class and is out of contract at Christmas.
Agree with Ryan, Gebre Selassie looks a fantastic right back. Plays for the Czech champions so should cost much at all. If we manage to free up some funds, ie, maybe sell Cahill, I'd be looking to get this guy, Pienaar, and another winger on loan.
I like and always have liked Srna. No chance of getting him, but he would be a good signing for the right-hand side.
The same paper that said we had to sell to buy and we have £7 million available.
It's a pity he signed a new contract with Wolfsburg (I think we need to shadow their scouts!) as recently as December because I really like the look of Petr Jiráček of the Czech Republic.
Agree too that Selassie would be good as well as a number of players like Dzagoev who will be on the shopping lists of the big boys.
I'd also welcome giving Arshavin a crack on loan if he isn't set on staying in Russia and if we don't get Pienaar. He really comes alive in these tournaments, doesn't he? Although he has blown hot and cold in the Premier League...
Great tournament so far, though. Really enjoying it.
Usually players who catch the eye at these major championships will cost double after they are over.
Agree with all about Gebre Selassie. He got a glowing report in World Soccer Magazine before the tournament so I put him in my fantasy team and he's delivering some points. Would be a great replacement / improvement for Hibbo. All of the others mentioned are also great players but sadly unavailable or out of our price range.
Debuchy looks good, the French right back. He's apparently looking for a move to the Prem and available for £5 mil. I'm sure we could strike a deal of a fiver a week and Claus Thomsen's old boots!
Mandzukic is shite.
Not the kind of player we should be looking at. Only good with his head. Looks like a Croatian Peter Crouch to me. Very greedy as well. I don't think he links up well with Jelavic at all. Jelavic gives him plenty of balls but it only works one way.
A big no thanks. 7m your having a laugh!
Potential signing
Maggio looks class. A great RB but would cost a fair bit.
Polanski looks a complete midfielder and would improve any team.
Dzageov Class and contract out this year so wouldn't command a big fee. Probably bigger fish involved but you might as well try!
Salassie too looks quality.
Now if that isn't the definition of lazy journalism I don't know what is. Dismal.
Talking about strikers. Does anyone know if we did sign Alif Solpro on a free in april. Have readily on a few web sites but can't find him anywhere on the official site. If we have got him is he as good as he sounds as 59 goals in 48 app is very good and in the African cup he scored 4 in his one game as was injured for the rest.
Says hes signed here:

Alif solpro........... is an anagram of April fools, and was published by various web sites on ................... april 1st 2012.
No chance; £7M ? where did that come from? And if it's there, why spend it on another striker when we only play one?
Has Kenwright won the Euro Millions?? ? because I can't see where the money is coming from to buy all these players who are linked with us.
Our new signing will be Ross Barkley and Jack Rodwell.
Any chance of getting Haile Selassie?
Well that's me looking stupid. Came across the article the other night and never saw the date. Anyway we need wingers before a striker.
How about that lad Ronaldo? He's looked good tonight...
In all seriousness, almost anyone who has a good Euro2012 will automatically become out of our meagre price range.
Dzagoev will go to a club with money probably in Europe, Sellasie a good player but turning heads now so will go out of our reach, unless someone finds out how to undo the boards pockets it will be loans only.
Surprised no one has said Naismith again after Rangers went pop, he's a great foil with Jelavic
Mandzukic and Jelavic don't seem to blend. Both appear to be selfish, which is great for us with Jelly, but I reckon Vellios may compliment our own Croatian. I was watching the game the other night and I was so impressed with Selassie, at half-time I was hoping Moyes would comment on him. Then again, with Hibbert, who needs a world class right back?
Mandzukic doesn't look anything special to me at all. I've been surprised he's stayed on ahead of Jelavic when subs have been made. He'd be a classic tournament signing I reckon. When it comes to the Premier League his mediocrity would be exposed. Luckily Moyes said on the BBC interview that he wouldn't buy on the strength of a tournament and places more emphasis on league form (although that doesn't explain why we signed Bilyaletdinov)
Besides that why are we looking at strikers (admittedly we could do with a couple more) when we don't have either a right or a left winger? Our wide areas need to be addressed before we try and add to what we have up front.
He looks pretty tasty to me, he's been much better than Jelavic who's fairly limited when he's more than 20 yards from goal.
He's a lot more mobile and has greater workrate and I think they could learn to work well together.
As far as being a tournament purchase, I think Moyes knows him better than that, he scored against us in our friendly against Wolfsburg and I'm pretty sure if we went for him it would be because he's been well scouted.
Drew ? I thought he looked pretty good during the 3 games, and contains a bit more pace than first glance.
I like Croatia. I know we lost a lot of money on Bilic, but they had some fine players in Jarni, Prosnecki, Boban etc.
. Favourite goal: Davor Sukur chipping Schmeichel when the Dane was at the peak of his powers.
