Psychology of Everton

Here's one way to cure our early season wows: why don't the team say "Bollox to all this pre-season training and singing Karaoke in American bars... Let's have a good old Christmas party along with fancy dress, turkey, Christmas pud and exotic dancers in AUGUST?"
That might just guarantee that they start playing to potential at the start of the season! I bet they won't find that idea in the training manual!
And hows about Moyesie only having 16 players to choose from? ? that would help too... and what about the players pretending they are playing Man City EVERY week? Home and away. Everton must be a sports psychologist's wet dream.

Back in Summer 2004, we had just finished 17th, beaten 5-1 by Man City ,who finished 16th, in the last game and the players got a real mauling in the press. Additionally Rooney was refusing to commit, we had a Boardroom feud going on between Kenwright and Gregg, Jermaine Wright of Ipswich turned us down and went to Leeds, we signed Marcus Bent for £400k and Tomas Radzinski left telling all the other players they should get out too. We had no money, big debts and even our promising signing Tim Cahill was going to miss the first games due to the Olympics. A very miserable time.
But, Moyes took the team to the US ( Florida I think ) a lot of team bonding went on and we enjoyed the famous 2004/5 season finishing 4th.
I think he sees the US as a great place to go pre-season and actually I wouldn't disagree - just want better opponents when we return to England.
Who does that (Rhetorically -speaking)?
Only give players 6 months contracts. That way, they'll always be playing at the top of their game, in the shop window/for a new contract, just like after xmas...
Good stuff !!
